You look at how Bale almost single handedly dragged Wales to major tournaments and Giggs (when he could even be arsed turning up) never really stood out at that level, that I can recall anyway. He was very good don't get me wrong, particularly in his younger days when he still had pace, but he's overrated. Zanetti's one defender I seem to remember that was just far too good for him. *edit - as an add on to what I mean by overrated, I reckon ~99% of people in England would rate Giggs as a better player than Brian Laudrup but for me there's no chance he was.
