Players Gers Career Ruined By Injury

Mols is the obvious one that springs to mind.

To a lesser extent, primarily due to his age, but big Dado as well. His body was probably only working at about 20% and he was still fucking brilliant. Warrior. If he was injury free (and a little younger) what a player he'd have been.

Eric Caldow, never the same player after Bobby Smith broke his leg in 1963 England- Scotland game.  Iain McDonald never fully  recovered from his injury after Chris Shevlane of Hibs done him, McDonald was 18/ or19 years old with potentially a great career ahead of him

The tackle, even by 60s standards, is horrific. No attempt to play the ball and the **** fakes injury after it.

Also not a snowballs chance he'd have been at us!

Definitely a player I didn't appreciate how good he was until after he left.

Ian Durrant Top of the list imo, Came back from horrendous injury suffered in a shock tackle by Thug Neil Simpson, Never quite the same after that imo sadly.

Career wasn't ruined though. Still came back to be a fantastic player. Certainly curtailed what he could have been, but wasn't ruined.

Same with Mols.

Nah can't agree with that.

He still had that turn, but losing his pace like that ended Mols. He just played out the rest of his career rather than the move to us being the start of him having a 3 or 4 year spell being one of the best strikers in Europe.

he also nearly ruined willie henderson put him out for months took the wee man long enough to get back to his best

Smith I assume.

I know the story but was not around at the time, but then Caldow was one of our finest players in arguably (I'm not arguing) our finest ever team.

Lack of existing video and media seems to have lessened the impact of the events over the years since.

The 92/93 season was his best season for us even b4 his injury

Watching him against top class opposition that year, he looked a standout in games v Brugges, Leeds and Marseilles, some of the best outfits Europe had at that time.

A very classy operator. Perfect as a playmaker just off the strikers after his injury. He'd lost his pace, so fell back on his game intelligence to become a different kind of player.

Totally agree, pre injury he was a Paul Scholes type of player who timed his runs in behind the back line to perfection, after his injury as you say he was the one playing in the passes behind the back line👍
