govanblue 16,847
Greetings Fellow Bears, Normally around this time of the year, we'd be launching our Traditional RM Erskine Fund End of Season Top-up Fundraiser, to raise enough money to purchase our 10 Season Tickets for Erskine Veterans and Combat Stress for the next season. But you may have noticed, things are slightly different this season. Firstly, since many of our Members will be seriously financially affected by the current situation, we don't want to be adding extra pressure on anyone at a time when they may need every penny for themselves. So all proactive Fundraising has been cancelled with immediate effect, until further notice. However, our Veterans still need our support, now more than ever. So if you feel that you are still able to spare a few pounds, then any donation to the Fund will always be greatly appreciated, but don't expect a customary shout-out, because any and all donations will be treated as anonymous. And now to the good news. Did I ever mention that the Fund had some cash reserves hidden away? We've got about £2,000 which was reserved for next season's Season Tickets, but given the current circumstances, we've decided that the time to spend it is now. To quote a current news article: Quote Experts have warned that the virus has left many care home residents struggling to cope with the collapse of their social networks. Family visits and activities at the majority of homes have been suspended, with many residents also being isolated in their rooms as a precaution against the virus. Prof Adam Gordon, of the British Geriatrics Society, who specialises in how healthcare is delivered in care homes, said: "We have to remember a care home is a community so a resident might have social relationships with other residents, the staff and of course family visiting. Overnight this routine has gone or is severely disrupted. So for people who have any sort of memory problem it is a really tough time right now, especially if they might not have much understanding of the wider world. We know loneliness and social isolation can result in worse outcomes for older people and it is a real concern given how long the lockdown is likely to last. So with that in mind, Erskine have increased their internal activities, such as afternoon concert parties and such like, which means they're now going through much more drinks and nibbles than usual. So I asked them for a shopping list, and we're currently stocking up on: Easter Eggs Whisky Whisky Gin Vodka Rum Sherry Diet Irn Bru Diet Fanta Diet Lemonade Wotsits Quavers Mars Bars Dairy Milk Cadbury's Buttons etc etc. And once we've accrued a sizeable mountain of stuff, we'll arrange to get it over to them. We've also got some of those great Rangers Playing Cards to help the Veterans while away those long Summer evenings. And not forgetting our very own Broxi Bravehound, who is currently working away helping his Veteran Companion get through the crisis too, so we'll send a cash donation to Bravehound for doggy treats for Broxi and his comrades. I'll get some pics of the shopping at some point. Sound good?

Perth_Campsie_Ger 17,974
Il fire some cash in when I get home. The home my gran is in has been able to let her face time video call, think a few of them including her has struggled with no visitors being allowed in to see them. Would they have the facility to do that?

Heshootshescores 1,904
Care homes must be a terrifying place to be right now,and I see casualties there now account for 1/3 of all COVID fatalities. Huge respect for the workers, and thoughts are with residents of all care homes, especially our Erskine hero's.
