"Stevie" wasn't it?

And can you tell me what we have won since then ?  That's right hee haw as they go for the quadruple treble.

So what do you think so funny?   If he could do,it at Lillie with very limited resources then he should have been shortlisted.

And what has Gerrard done to convince you?

People just like saying what other people should be doing with their money, if they’ve got more than them. It’s always the same excuse.

The club haven’t asked for wage cuts and have enough to spend £4m on Hagi. That tells the players that things aren’t dire. The players don’t love the club, they’re employed by them and would find employment somewhere else if required. Any “great gesture” would mean very little in the grand scheme and would soon be forgotten after the first misplaced pass.

Only asking should the players now be doing their bit?   This covid19 is going nowhere fast and the club is losing money hand over fist and if it was not for fans renewing their season books then fuck knows where we would be.

Its not like they can't afford it,  how many fans can't afford their season books just now yet renewed?  But hey fuck asking the players to help out the club.

If you can't afford the season ticket then don't do it, that simple.

If Gerrard was to leave, would you still want "Stevie" Clarke on our shortlist to replace him?

All good points mate but don’t you think the club should’ve done more to get the players to take a cut?

Biggest push for the title yet this coming season and why not take every financial advantage we can get?

Some way of motivating the players by cutting their pay. Financial advantage..... at a direct cost to the players themselves. Genius.

Yes they have contracts, but  most players are payed well compared to everyone else, and I think they have more scope to 'cut back' in these hard times. They are not playing and the club has reduced income. Would another team really take them on now on their wage? We are being asked to give money for season tickets, with not much prospect of seeing live football, with most of that going to the players.  I don't think a modest wage cut till we get back to playing is unreasonable.  I think with no football, expecting full footballer wage is a bit greedy.

But i do think they could have cut their wages down to 60/70% for 3 months. And we could have added in more bonus potential for winning the league.

The players know there's no chance that bonus would ever be claimed.

Probably not tbh. It’s small beer in the overall picture and would have sent out the wrong message about the stability of the club. It wouldn’t have looked right if we’re going out and buying players too and may even have put off some potential targets from joining.

If players wanted to voluntarily group together and say they were going to make up any shortfall for furloughed backroom staff, then that would have been welcomed and addressed an inequality but cutting salaries across the board and giving players the opportunity to leave for nothing under breach of contract and get a big signing on fee elsewhere would have been a bad move.

Look dafty we know they have contracts that are law abiding and must be paid.    But they have bills to pay?   Give me a thousands of supporters a break.

As for bills like the rest of us ?  You mean the £30 you give yer ma pays for everything?

So in summary...

Our unsuccessful squad have to be motivated by having their salaries cut by 50%. To give us a financial competitive edge, at their direct cost.

Most of us accept we need 1st team signings if we are to win a league. These will likely be at the top end of our salary budget. What do we do then, keep them on a high salary their teammates are contributing towards, or get them to drop by 50% so they too can be motivated? Or maybe we just sign players of less quality and still expect success.

If industry averages reduce salaries then great. It may well happen. But any expectation to win the league after being the only club cutting salaries is a nonsense. And fans expecting it of players, who would be in their rights to walk away, are deluded.
