Not sure if this is true but Willie McKay was his agent apparently and that helped secure him.

True, I heard McKay was more than just an agent some sort of share in players as well. At that time he was more like scout and go to agent for us.
McEwan's Lager 14,192
He was great for us for the half season we had him. Carr, Boumsong, Bramble and Babayaro is probably my favourite Premiership back four ever. They were fucking hilarious. NorthernLights likes this
onefootwillie 1,496
He was a good player for us but was subject to lapses of concentration. Never really did as well you would have thought. I think he struggled at Newcastle and I think Juventus . Stopped playing at about 33 docspiderman likes this
don logan 4,153
He was tremendous in the short time with us.
Dennis Reynolds 609
He was very good but he did show signs of what was to come at Newcastle and chucked it in the weeks before he departed. He was howling in a game against Hearts, not entirely convinced he was injured up at Inverness and had a horror show at home against Auxerre, he was at ease with going by the time he left. siamthedanger 1,498
Loved him up here. Was surprised his career went south (pardon the pun) after leaving us.
five stars 1,203
Superb for us. Did he play for us against Newcastle in a friendly before his move? Vaguely remember him completely dominating Shearer.

He didn't dominate him, Newcastle dealt with us pretty easily Bernard (mind him) scored an absolute raker, Shearer did half lash out and started acting like a complete fanny, but it was the fans who got in his head rather than Boumsong, mind Bobby Robson gave us pelters after that game for how we treated Shearer. grand day out. TheJacketRFC 2,180
Always remember when he scored this would play.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqHQ_wWbG9Y He absolutely strolled it up here then got a move down to Newcastle. Remember their was a rumour that his mum was abused in our hospitality but typical celtic made-up bullshit.

Watched some of his games with us and although at the time I thought he was class the number of times big Marvin got him out of trouble showed a different side.
