Haven’t been keen on this one over the Summer, mainly due to his injury record, but to effectively get a ‘try before we buy’ with him is a lot better then shelling out the 3/4 million that it was reported we would need to to get him straight away so it’s actually quite good business.

Can cunts stop with the 'he must be good because Gerrard and Wilson wouldn't have signed him otherwise' shite?

It's possible to have an opinion on the signing whilst still backing the boy when he plays, the two aren't mutually exclusive

He's 28, played a handful of games in the past three seasons, can't get a game for Amiens in Ligue 2, is an absolute roaster on social media, and barely scored a dozen goals across his whole career.

If ever there was a signing to be negative about for fuck sake.

Hiya

Not if he spends the majority of the season on the treatment table and we are still left badly needing a quality midfielder.

The financial risk may have been lessened but our need for improvement in the middle of the park hasn't.

We will probably still be paying him nearly 200k in wages over the next 8 months.

Remains to be seen how he does. 71 games I think it is in last 4 years.

If you want to look at the signing negatively then yeah that’s true.

He’s obviously been a target for the whole Summer and the management team are obviously confident he’s going to address issues we have. Until he proves otherwise, positively or negatively, I’m going to look at the positives of the deal and getting him on loan at the cost of his wages is far better than signing him on a  three or four year deal for 3/4 million.

Smacks of desperation this one.

Supposedly knocked him back after he failed a medical/was overweight but then suddenly we go back in for him on deadline day?

Hope he turns out to be a good signing but to say it's underwhelming would be an understatement.

I highly doubt the story that he failed a medical.

Personally think it was something to do with the transfer fee/wages.

This just looks like a win/win signing considering the contractual situation. If he's good we'll keep him, if not little harm done. Hope he does well though and if he does it will mean our squad has really improved all over this year and that makes me optimistic. FTP.

There was never gonny be much positivity around a 27 year old who's barely played in 3 or 4 years, playing in the French second division though. Especially as a last minute signing when we already patched him.
