Rangers were punished on UEFA's new guidelines regarding stewarding zones during the match.

UEFA's para 13.3.1 states: "The accreditation system must allow stewards to clearly identify who is authorised to be in which zone at what time.

"The stadium safety and security officers, stewards and private security must be clearly briefed about both the stadium zoning system and the various times, as well as the importance of its application. All staff working in the stadium must be asked to respect the system and to cooperate fully with stewards."

Some fucking day.

Just read this comment in a group on Facebook, sounds likely

Former steward here so might be able to give a bit of an insight to what has possibly happened.

To me it sounds like people getting access to areas which they shouldn't possibly an official has been going about testing accreditation spots it happens alot at big events and he's got access to somewhere he should be with his pass.

Basically each person that is allowed access to the ground is given a coloured pass I think the standard system is green, Amber, red. Each of these will only be allowed access to certain area of the ground. I think an official has maybe had a Amber pass for example and has managed to get into a red pass area which he shouldn't be in.

Daily Rhag running with big bad Rangers who were fined lots of times last year.

“Rangers were previously hammered with a number of fines by UEFA during last season's Europa League campaign. Rangers were fined €10,000 after a fan invaded the pitch in February’s victory over Braga in the round of 32 first leg, €5,250 after fireworks were thrown on the pitch in the same game and €5,250 after a glass Buckfast bottle was thrown onto the Ibrox pitch in their 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen.“

Still not the most fined club in the country though eh? But no mention of that.

It’s the exaggeration & emotive language - ‘hammered’.

Ten thousand euros!

Five thousand two hundred & fifty euros!

If you’re a working man, €10k & you’ve definitely been hammered.

A football club, turning over £50 plus million a year.... meh!!

It's careless but not exactly a show-stopper.  We certainly need to tighten up our act by bending every employee's ear, including the players.
