Players On International Duty Thread

Thought it was worth having one place we can discuss any updates on players on international duty. These weeks are so fucking dull, I'm only ever really interested in how our players are getting along.

Helander won't be travelling for the Denmark game now because of the new restrictions in Denmark. For me the more we can minimise travel the better.

Morelos had his call up confirmed last night:

Happy for the players to get call ups but same time think it's a horrendous idea to have different countries mix during all this covid stuff. It's just asking for people to catch it. Even Europa as well.

Agreed, crazy to keep this going. If we keep making the wrong decisions Covid will last far longer than it should.

Do we have a list of players that are away.  I think our squad is strong enough to cope with any fallout from the internationals.  Glad Tav and Goldson aren't away.

  • Jack (Scotland vs Czech on the 12th, Slovakia 15th and Israel 18th)
  • Balogun (Nigeria vs Sierra Leone in Nigeria and Sierra Leone away on 13th and 17th)

Cheers mate.  I never realised there were three internationals for the Europeans.

Ooooft!...never realised there were so many away. Thanks for the detail...

Does anyone know what's the return-to-base-safely process is?

(- do they all need to quarantine like the rest of us on return?

- do the club try to keep them apart on return?) :hmmm:

Why are they continuing with friendly games

Daft as fuck

Come down to money as it usually does.

It's stupid and downright dangerous to be playing these games during a pandemic.  Players traveling from different parts of the world meeting each other. Doesn't matter how much testing you do, it's still risky and could be avoided.

I don't think so, unless anyone in their individual 'bubbles' tests positive, as with Tierney, Christie and Armstrong last time Scotland played. I think 'elite' athletes are exempt due to the high standard/frequency of testing. I could be wrong though! It's the same as us going away in Europe.
