How did you have a few teams to support? I am baffled by this, who do you actually support? You liked historically opposition teams as a youngster? Your dad went down every second year and let me guess went to take you to Parkhead when Rangers were away. What utter nonsense, you are talking utter rubbish. I did not grow up in Scotland but I without doubt know much, much more about  Rangers than you do. And I am only 24 { oops 42, see what I did there lied online ) Also anyone referring to as a team as they does not really give a fuck. I would never hope to refer to Rangers as they.

I'm Scottish.

I don't believe the current Scottish football association is conducive to the best interests of Scottish football and is ethically and morally corrupt, which reflects badly on our nation itself.. I therefore will not endorse them or support the Scotland football team that represents their philosophies and prejudices.

I also find many of their support extremely prejudiced toward my own viewpoint and favourite football team, and too often their support embarrassing, so will also refrain at this time from joining that support..

I'm out.

Grew supporting them and everything Scottish and detested the arrogant English media and a lot of their fans , and still enjoy them getting dumped out of the latter stages of tournaments.

I will never forget how the mainly catholic run media , councils and football authorities and every other club in this cesspit country has treated our club.

The reason the national side is so bad is because of the way we were treated , fuck them , you reap what you sow.

Not a fuckin chance I will ever support or put any cash their way , or any other club in this country by attending an away fixture.

Good, balanced article actually. Guy will probably get the sack for it though.

I think that when we have 3 or 4 players in the national team views may  change on supporting them and being at the Euros will help. I admit that I really felt nothing for them since 2012 but seeing Jack’s passion for Scotland is winning me round a bit.

it is every bit our country and I’m coming to the view no one should be able to change that

That's just being a fucking drama queen now.

So fuck - it's only a figure of speech, and besides - I'd rather be a drama queen that some sort of Scotland cuckhold. Rangers fans that are happy seeing the Scottish national team doing well are the equivalent of a specky wee Rick Moranis look-a-likes that sits and enjoys watching his wife get shagged off black guys in hotel rooms.

I think you’ve touched on a very important thing: never let a nationalist hijack your Scottish identity.

Choosing not to have an interest in the national football side does not render you a non-Scot. It’s dangerous grounds for people to pursue that line of thinking and one pushed, one way or another, by the SNP’s most vocal base.

I wouldn’t tell someone they aren’t Irish, Pakistani, French, American or any other nationality. Don’t let them do it to you.

The Saltire is my flag just as much as theirs. The fact that I also choose to take pride in the Union flag and my British identity does not eradicate my relationship with the former.

I appreciate thats a slightly different discussion but it overlaps somewhat.

Agreed on that but regards the flags, it's really hard when the Saltire's been hijacked and is now firmly associated with them.

Sometimes a flag is only as good as the people that fly it and live under it. On both counts that's not much to shout about these days for both the folk that fly it (nationalists) and the people that live in the country (in my eyes it's now a full-blown tarrier cesspit - we even have some of our own so-called good guys that even vote for SNP) ... as I said in another post on this the other day we were once a fantastic nation that punched above our weight in everything - sports, entertainment, education, industry, invention ... now look at us, we absolutely worship folk like Lewis Capaldi, Cinnamon, Kevin Bridges, vote in the SNP, let the tarriers get the run of the place ... the list is never ending, I feel like I could sit here for hours reeling stuff off.

That said too, I've no idea where this narrative comes from about "you're Scottish get behind the football team" ... why? since when did the Scottish football team hold the monopoly on all things Scottish patriotism? the same mugs don't say that if you say you're not arsed when Andy Murray is playing tennis, Chris Hoy riding his bike or whatever.

I'm not even a proud Scotsman these days. Haven't been for years. But unlike tarriers and SNP/nationalists I don't deny what I am like they deny they're British. I am Scottish, I just don't like it.

I had the strips growing up and I'll never hate the Scotland National team but remain largely indifferent to them now. I find it difficult to actively support them when the SFA has spent > 20 years targeting us and our players and many of the supporters enjoy targeting Rangers players who pull the jersey on. Jack seems to have escaped it which is a step in the right direction but its only a few years since Lee Wallace was getting booed by his own fans. If there is a culture change then I might start to care more but it is always about the Rangers first and foremost for me.

Talk about triggered. Jesus Christ.

I'm born in England, my Mum's entire family are English. My Dad is Scottish, his parents are from Ulster. When I said my Dad went down to Wembley every second year as a youngster it was to support Scotland in the Home Internationals.

Anyway don't have to justify myself on who I like to see do well in international football to someone with the IQ of a mule.

You could argue that about the BNP or British far right in general hijacking the Union flag too though. If the Union of Fascists returned to the streets of Manchester waving that flag then I don’t believe it would stain the entirety of British identity across the country.

Also, Lewis Capaldi? He’s a harmless, very loose celtic supporting musician who some might find funny, some not. I don’t think he’s worshipped by any means and he’s never once came out with anything explicitly political or confrontational. Gerry Cinnamon on the other hand is a rabid teenage socialist in an adult’s body who loathes the island he lives on. So fuck him.

You could, but the BNP are insignificant - no-one takes them seriously.

The SNP however? they are the biggest party in our country and have the most seats by a distance in both Holyrood and Westminster.

About half the country takes them seriously. That's the problem.

Regards Capaldi, there was a thing I seen where a high % of Scottish youth seen him as some sort of Scottish hero/icon - that sums it up for me.

Just can’t get excited about Scotland. Haven’t watched a game since 2007 tbh.
The hatred for Rangers from the rest of Scottish football has grown and grown over the years and it’s now so ingrained that I don’t think it will ever be undone. It is inevitable that the hatred towards us is reciprocated.

Fuck them.

exactly the way i feel mate

there has been plenty to rekindle my hate for the national side never mine love over the years

Tbf the conservative’s in the 80’s started the dismantling of our much regarded industry and country. Fucking with our unions and using political strong arming to move shipbuilding, coal and steel to England to proffer the vote down there.
not forgetting the poll tax experiment.
we are still world leaders in innovation such as computer design and gaming, the drinks industry (large scale and bespoke). Design engineering and arts.

it’s easy to blame the here and now without putting a perspective on how we as a nation have been treated over the years that has slowly degraded what we have.
I meet proud heavy industry workers who are done, generational unemployment and embarrassment seems to be their cost to a proper doing by Thatcher.

The very reason the SNP have sneaked in the back door because there’s no credible force to fight them. Cunts leading Labour/Conservatives etc see us as a “big city” in England and can’t be arsed fighting the Nats.

Disregard the BNP then and consider British neo-Nazis and the fascistic far-right in general.

His fan base are by majority teenage girls  I think you’re looking a bit too much into that. He’s a pop culture icon and undeniably charismatic on front of a camera. Anyone taking political guidance from Lewis Capaldi is either a teenager or an adult not worth worrying about.

Labour weren't adverse to shutting work places either btw.

SNP have got in on the act quite a bit too - oh and we are still waiting on them honouring their original manifesto promise to remove the dreaded, unfair poll tax.

The last part in bold I 110% agree with tho.

Labour and Conservative are the masters of their own (and the Scottish folks) downfall. They take us for granted, even now, which is remarkable considering the SNP are in power up here and masters of grievance politics and games.

You can put any extremist groupings name you want next to it, still no-one takes them seriously. They aren't a mainstay in our society, decision-makers, representing us or anything like that. That's the difference.

If they ever came into power and hijacked the Union jack and literally represented us then yeah you'd be spot-on.

In Scotland the maniacs have took Union flags down from buildings, replaced them with the Saltire where it wasn't there before and sometimes even refuse to fly the Union flag on the 9-11 days per year that they are meant to - any of the SNP-run councils that honour it, it's down rapid before the end of the business day.

Capaldi isn't worth worrying about. I'm not saying that. I'm just including him on a list of muppets that our youth seem to adore. They couldn't tell you who Alexander Fleming or James Watt is, but adore folk like Lewis Capaldi.

They're just brainwashing. The idiot Blackford refuses to change tact when speaking in Parliament, just repeating the same shit over and over. It's exactly what the SNP have done for years, repeat and bolster arguments until people start believing it's the only way out.

I've seen some smart people be brainwashed by this nonsense, but they tend not to give much of a reason as to why they're now siding with the SNP. It's almost as if they've looked at labour and the tories and thought better the devil you know.
