Rangers Accounts 2020

If we'd sold Morelos for what we'd been offered (imo we tried to squeeze a few more million out of it) our accounts would be bang on despite the pandemic but we'd be in a worse off position on the pitch.

Time will tell whether it was the right decision to hold out for more. But regardless, the Board deserve huge credit for keeping us stronger on the playing field than any time in the last decade in such an important season. Buckling and selling for 16m would have been an easy decision to make if breaking even was the priority.

Are they still having issues getting loans? Only reason I could see why they would need to have so much cash in the bank accruing next to nothing whilst paying interest fees on debt.

We aren’t yet working in a level playing field in regards to our financial situation.

Just saw this on FF:

From the financial report....
The Group has submitted a claim on its Business Interruption insurance for losses caused by COVID-19, the curtailment of the 2019/20 season and the ongoing pandemic, which continues to impact a number of revenue streams and the use of the Stadium. The scale and timing of any claim is uncertain, however we have recognised amounts received from our insurers against our claim to date.

Are insurers in Scotland already paying out on business interruption then? The test case is still being appealed by insurers in the Supreme Court in England

Very interesting trends

Thats fucking horrendous for them only making a profit in 2 years since 2014 and it wasn't much at that either. Just shows that in order for them to break even as it stands, is to sell £20m worth of players every year.

Widely reported the transfer fees were around £9-£10m

£2.7m Itten

300K Bassey

£3.5m Roofe

£3m Hagi

Gerrard came out and said Roofe fee was nowhere near the reported figure.

Our agent fees in the summer 2018/Jan 2019 was £915k, scums was £1.7m and we signed 20 players in those two windows and them 14.

The extra £5/6m costs seems very excessive if it is indeed agent and sign on fees.

Including wages in some of the figures? (Roofe)

Wouldn't call it a great position to be in tbh.

What happens if we don't qualify for European group stages next season. Are investors willing and able to cover greater losses than £14m?

What if something happens to Bennett or Park? Are the current group of investors going to cover the finance needed?

The accounts are sort of fine in the medium term when you have a couple of people willing and able to provide this kind of cover. But that can turn all very quickly.

Regarding Europe, worst case scenario we’d be guaranteed a place in the Europa Conference League.

Not sure how rewarding it is financially though.

Rough numbers but

Roofe - £5m

Itten - £3m

Hagi - £3.5m

Bassey - £0.5m

There’s £12m so not a stretch that agent fees etc would take it up to £15m

That looks to me like good value to be honest.

No wonder they have the press up here over hyping the values of some pretty average players for them. They do it all the time. Fucking clever to be fair.

Papers have absolutely no effect on transfer fees. Arsenal didn't pay what they paid for Tierney because the record said that's what he's worth 😂

Slight concern I have is age of the squad. Most of the mainstays are mid to late 20s. We also rely heavily on 2 guys almost finished their careers who will need replaced. No youth players coming through.

In the summer we need to add a few younger ones.

Who are the two you mean? We have a fairly young squad

Both players (McGregor and Davis) have younger replacements coming through in McCrorie and Kennedy
