The Split

How does this make sense..

By the time it comes to the spilt we will have been to Parkhead, Fir park, Easter Road, and Pittodrie twice, they will only have been to Ibrox and said venues once!

That computer is soo random, that for the 2nd year in a row this has happened

I was reading there was an agreement which every club signed (when the split came into force) that meant there was a risk that one club could play 20 home or away games for the season and only 18 of the other. It literally makes no sense (and this is actually happened once or twice). I don't know another league in the world where we don't know our last opponent of the season but that's Scottish football i suppose.

If it stays the same as it is now i imagine the fixtures will be similar to the below:

Ibrox: celtic, Hibs, Aberdeen

Away: Livingston & Dundee United

This didn't happen at all last year btw we had played hibs, Aberdeen and the fenians all at home first.

There's millions a stuff that people can get raging about but why make stuff like this up?

Must of been the year before then sorry

There are about ten leagues in Europe that have split competitions like this. Belgium and Poland are two and I’m pretty sure Northern Ireland does as well.

It rotates every single year. So when we play them.all away first this year we will be at home to them all first next season.

Aww really, wasn't aware of that! But how is tht fair if 2 of them don't make the top 6

It happens every year with the teams who finish bottom 6, we will play some of them at home twice and only once away or vice versa.

I don't really know what you're getting at here

So if hibs, motherwell, aberdeen and finished outside the top 6.

We go to them twice n celtic go 1.

Surely it’s a good thing if we’ve played the rest of the top 6 away twice before the split? It means we play them at home post split.

No we don't. Thats the issue with the split. We'll likely play some top 6 a 3rd time away from home.

I'm sure it has happened where a team has played 20 home and 18 away though not as a title decider .

Its more likely to end up with us playing a team 3 times away and them 3 times at home if it does end up c....c , aberdeen,  hibs and motherwell in  the top 6   just to balance the home / away ratio , with i suspect the extra away game against one of the easier teams .

Its actually happened a few times .

I think it happens most seasons that a team end up playing 20 & 18 home and away instead of 19 & 19. Pretty sure they try to stop it happening to us or them though.

I know they made it so that the split going against one of us wouldn't matter in terms of the Old Firm game as that will always be 2 at theirs and 2 at ours.

We just have to keep winning so that it's redundant in the end.

Looking at the league table just now and below is sit celtic, Aberdeen, Hibs, Livingston and Dundee Utd.

St Mirrem in 7th but with 3 games in hand.

At the split we will have been to parkhead, pittodrie, easter road and livi away twice.

Dundee is the only one who we would naturally go to.

We will be made to go to one of them 3 times and should have 3 home 2 away.

If St Mirren made it in place of Livingston it would work perfectly.

Yes , the theory being if they're not in the top 6 then there are better teams despite their reputations.

And it’s always the team in lowest position ,you play your third away game against I think
