You could easy be right but it’s 4 quality centre backs to argue about

Exactly mate and what a lovely headache that is to have! We’d be far better discussing that than having the option of Bitton, Ajer, Duffy and that big fanny Jullien

I’d like to see us bring in a cb and send Katic out on loan next season, think a full season playing week in week out would take him to next level he could then take Baloguns place in the squad, at the moment he’ll be 4th choice centre back

Were we no sending Edmundson out on loan, if so Katic needs to stay where he is as one injury would leave us short, have both Helander and Balogun no been injured this season already.

Who could we loan him to that he could learn more off than his three team mates, would need to be a high quality side which would likely to be able to afford to buy a promising young CB should they require to do so.?

If it’s true he’s back already, then he is indeed an absolute machine.

I’ve done my ACL twice (2nd time just last January) and despite doing as much rehab and running as I can, I’m miles away from playing football.

He did his 6 months ago. Incredible.

To be fair he’s a professional athlete who will have had first class treatment from the minute he got injured. That’s going to have a serious impact on his recovery.

When I did my ACL it took seven months just to get a diagnosis and the height of my physio during my rehab (before I went private) was getting handed a generic sheet with a few shit exercises on it from an NHS physio.

He isn't as good as the first choice 3 at the moment, but could get to their level.

He is not as far behind as some think either IMO.

Our defence is better this year as our system works better, it is not due purely down to Katic being out.

I agree a loan would be a big benefit to him, and I would gladly see him going to an Aberdeen or the likes.

I think it is still probably too early for him to be going on loan this season though. Recover and get some game time with us, then a loan for next season would be ideal.

Yeah mate, absolutely.  But even for a professional athlete, his recovery is quite exceptional.

Ha, I feel your pain - when I did mine first time around in 2004, it took 16 months from when I injured the knee to getting the op.  In that time, I saw GPs and physios who tried to tell me it was anything from a dislocated knee cap, a bad strain or possibly just cartilage damage.  Finally, after a year of waiting and lots of pushing on my part, I got a MRI scan which showed the rupture.  Utter madness.

2nd time I did it, I went to see a GP, who's also a doctor at the Newcastle Falcons, which was my very first GP appointment after doing it and he confirmed within seconds what I already knew - it had gone again!

As I say, that's part of it, but if you don't have two good CBs you'll lose more goals than we have.

Didn't say folk liked him because he's a nice guy. His attitude and application is exactly why folk like him, it's never been his issue. It's the other stuff. He's just not good enough based on what we've seen. Personally doubt he ever will be, but I hope he can be.

Sorry mate must have been someone else.

I wasn’t taking anything away from him or what he’s been through BTW. Whether you have the best facilities available or not it takes a seriously strong mindset and a lot of hard graft to get yourself back to that level within six months.

Haha honestly mate that first story is almost word for word what happened to me. Dislocated knee cap, torn cartridge, strained medial ligaments, uncommon gait when walking..the guessed are it being everything apart from the thing that I suspected it to be. I finally got referred to a specialist and he did the lachman test and diagnosed it within two minutes. The injury happened in April 2010 and I didn’t surgery until February 2011. Going through it once was bad enough, but twice must be brutal. I know a boy who’s done it three times. One knee twice and his other knee once. Grim.

I’ll get hammered for this no doubt but don’t really care because I think he’s class but I think POTENTIALLY Katic is our best centre back.

You made a post yesterday saying he was shite😂😂😂😂

Mate it was tongue in cheek because I was getting hammered on here for saying he was our best. Poor gag on my part to be fair

Katic is a good defender but he defends too much. He’s too keen to engage in tackles or jumping for headers where a better defender wouldn’t engage and wait for a better opportunity.

Think this is fair.

He's sometimes the worst parts of Goldson and Balogun combined. Hopefully it can get knocked out of him, time is certainly on his side.

Based on what?

You only need to look at our record in the biggest games, games that for the most part Gerrard doesnt select Katic.

I struggle to think of any games where has been very good defensively, but that doesnt mean he had a bad game, so I cant really argue that at the moment, but cant seriously think that Katic is as good on the ball as Goldson and Helander?

Goldson is pretty good at distribution on long balls but he gives me the fear on short forward passes.  Helander I don't rate at passing at all and I don't think he is particularly comfortable at it either as he tends to pass along the back leaving forward passes to others.

I like Katic and he has a lot of potential. He is prone to mistakes, more so than the three ahead of him currently, but he has time on his side to learn to read the game much better.

His physique, his attitude and his talent are evident. He will benefit from training with the team mates he has around him but he would benefit more from games and I think the shout for him to go on loan is a good one. Perhaps English Championship.

He is definitely not shite.
