He's not even in China 

Rafa Benitez has quit his job in China over fears about Covid.

The former Newcastle United boss has been manager of Dalian Pro for the last two seasons.

But with Benitez worried about his family in the North-West of England he has decided to stay in the UK during the lockdown.

And consequently is not in a position to be with Dalian for the start of the new season in China.

Talks about a severance package is ongoing according to the Mirror.

Benitez has left on good terms and is working with them on who replaces him.

You're probably right. It certainly wouldn't be by email after what happened with the SPFL/SFA -  Dundee correspondence.
