Media are already in hyper-drive banging on about his achievements. Any manager that has been successful and actually won trophies is always handy but it's not the unprecedented success they make out. Won 2x championships with Roarcelona or whatever stupid nickname they gave them. Actually finished 2nd in the league for one of those. Finished 9th out of 10 teams in his first season as well. Went to Melbourne Victory and finished 3rd before losing in the semi-finals of their play-off championship thing. Won the Asia Cup with Australia. They were host nation and finished second behind South Korea in the groups. Went on to beat China, UAE and finally South Korea in extra time. Big win but you'd put your house on them getting past China and UAE at home. Went to the J-League and almost got them relegated. Won the league the following season which is hugely impressive (although they did lose 8 times in the league). Followed up the win with a 9th place finish last season. No cup wins either and we know how important they apparently are to that lot. Not something I would normally go massively into checking out but some of the media making out like he turns anything he touches into a winning machine. To be fair to most their supporters, they are as utterly baffled as us by this appointment it seems. La la land for them when they thought they’d attract someone like Benitez, downgraded to Howe and now we’re here. Major wake up call for them that they have fuck all money, horrendous appointment, who’s only comments regarding them are implying Dalglish posters (aye right) and Scott MacDonald? Has shambles written all over it, no experience of European football, let alone British, let alone Scottish. Someone start the ticking time bomb.
