Welsh's Morelos comments - does anyone care? | Daily Record

Opinion - Irvine Welsh and his Rangers comments were close to the bone but does any real person actually care?

- by Michael Gannon | 31st January 2021

The SFA slapping Alfredo Morelos with a three-match ban doesn’t seem too bad considering Irvine Welsh’s suggestion for punishment.

Chopping the Colombian up with a machete and feeding him to the seagulls might be beyond the remit of the Hampden beaks, but it could finally sort out the striker’s disciplinary issues.

What a carry on.

Welsh has taken a pounding for his comments and poor Alfie has been cast as a victim once again, being picked on by all these nasty officials, who clearly have an anti-Rangers agenda.

Give us strength.

It would be nice to meet any of these folk who were actually offended by Welsh’s comments on Hibs TV.

They must be a barrel of laughs. When lockdown is over they are first on the invitation list for the party.

Calling Rangers the ‘Sticky Buns’? Fetch the machete and give him the Alfredo justice as well.

Does any real person actually give a toss about this? It’s like the old letters sent in to Point of View by Disgusted from Kent or something.

Unravel your knickers, turn off the Twitter and get a grip.

Same goes for Hibs issuing an apology. Grow a set.

If you are going to hire the guy who wrote Trainspotting then you need to accept that he might chuck in the odd close to the bone analogy.

So what. It was clearly a joke and if folk can’t take it that’s on them.

As for Morelos, there’s no need to chop him up but yet again his manager could do with giving him a – metaphorical – slap.

Some Rangers fans have got themselves into a knot over the striker.

When their side were miles behind Celtic and he acted up, they eventually lost the rag and understood Morelos was harming their side’s chances with his behaviour.

Get rid was the call.

Now that they are streets ahead they have gone back to acting like the Night Stalker groupies.

Wait a minute, there’s someone comparing
Morelos to a 1980s serial killer – call the compliance officer again.

Morelos is more like the Shin Raker than the Night Stalker anyway, but he got caught against Hibs and got hit with a ban.

Deal with it.

There are probably plenty of examples of other players getting away with similar stuff during games but that doesn’t make their man any less culpable.

The constant moaning about Morelos misses a key point, though.

If the match officials had seen some of these offences then he would have been off the park and would not have been contributing to earning vital points.

He scored the winner at Easter Road when he should have been soaking in the team bath.

Should Hibs stopper Darren McGregor have been done as well? Maybe. But his cheeky stamp was much more subtle than Alfie’s and harder to prove.

Morelos is about as subtle as an articulated lorry attempting a three-point turn.

It’s clear the hitman is beyond a telling.

Steven Gerrard has spent large spells head butting the wall with him.

There’s been the arm around the shoulder, the
hair dryer treatment and even the wage packet being bashed, but none of it seems to work.

We thought his previous was just frustration at Rangers not winning.

Now they are, it just turns out that’s just the way he is.

He should be enjoying the victory parade but he obviously plays on the edge and sometimes goes over it.

His main problem is he’s not cute enough to avoid getting caught.

If he plays well and scores goals then his manager – and any future gaffer – will just need to factor that in and take the rough with the smooth.

Like Welsh’s Begbie in Trainspotting, he’s a psycho, but he’s a mate, so what can you do?

I'm sure Alfredo and his missus care, as well as his family, friends, his employers and even most of us Gers fans

Doesn't deserve it.

Having seen the act happen online its pretty disgusting to make that comment. When did we get to the point that its acceptable to talk about dismembering other humans with machetes in the same environment as scottish football? Any football for that matter. It would be out of place in the UFC ffs!

Michael Gannon the type of cunt that wouldn't mind if someone said they were going to chop him up with a machete but if you called him a Dirty fenian bastard would be so offended that he would burst out greeting and run to the police.

Sums this country up.

Get your point about posting the article.

But we shouldn't give the Daily Record any hits at all.

Fuck them.

+1 MyGers point of staunchness.

Although, you don't have to click the link.

They didn’t like the joke when the famine song was being sung. Did the record tell them to take it in the chin and grow a set. Gannon is just another republican reptile.

A satirical piss take was branded a sectarian celebration of people starving to death a couple of hundred years ago and that is the issue right there. It’s not the childish words of Welsh that pisses me off, it’s the difference in treatment anyone connected to our club would receive if they called a HIVs player a Fenian, or suggested (in jest) he should be macheted.

If Tom Miller was to state live on Rangers TV than Scott Brown should be hacked to pieces with a machete, the parts scattered to the four corners of the globe to be consumed by seagulls, and the great unwashed voiced their disgust at it, I'm sure the Daily Record would run a piece telling all their fans to get a grip, grow up and stop always playing the victim......................hahahahaha, sounds hilarious even when you read it. Got more chance of Peter lawell apologising for the years of corruption he has orchestrated in Scottish football.

The gist of life in Scotland is:

Anyone who attacks Rangers fans, players and wider family = good guy

Anyone who attacks the tarriers = bad guys

Rangers fans defending our own = childish for not being able to take the 'banter'

Tarriers calling out anyone attacking them or theirs = paragons of virtue and part of the drive against racism and bigotry.

We live in a sithole, with a core of utter cunts not fit for the gutter and the only people we can trust and ever care about is us and our own.

Michael Gannon should be chopped up and fed to seagulls.

If he has kids they should also be chopped up and fed to seagulls to stop them reproducing.

Sure he won't mind this, just banter.

What have the seagulls done to deserve such a poisoned meal .
