Always used to do well in the European competitions in Football Manager on the Spectrum back in the day. Gave me a respect for them that lasts to this day.

To be honest, its just an attempt by them to try and use the situation that we went thorough to give them some legitimacy.

The real CSKA Sofia are 'PFC CSKA Sofia' not 'FC CSKA 1948 Sofia'.

FC CSKA 1948 Sofia were formed in 2016, and are a bit like that weird Manchester Club that popped up when the fans fell out with the Glaziers.

Remember when the Blue Knights mooted the idea of forming a 'New Rangers' that would be separate to the original club, and both of them would compete at the same time?

That is what FC CSKA 1948 Sofia is.

Nothing against them or their fans, but the congratulations is purely some grandstanding to try and give themselves legitimacy.

To be honest, neither of the current CSKA Sofia's are really legitimate.

It was a far more messy situation than we went through.

Did you murder a football club as well?

Fs you've been about.

Aye the "real" one is dodgy as fuck as well, you can't blame them for setting up a new one.

The story is very confusing - the old club CSKA(now CSKA-Sofia) had over 15m euro debts, and they were made bankrupt by their owner, so the owner is not chased for the money. Meanwhile Litex Lovech(another bulgarian club who had success in the past 20 years or so) were made to leave the field in a Premier League game by their president, for which they were punished by relegation to the 2nd tier of Bulgarian League. A year earlier there were rumours of a merging between the two clubs. After this was done, the CSKA were bankrupt, the president of Litex took over CSKA, and he also took the players and staff from Litex, and the license of a 3rd club(Chavdar Etropole) and as a result started as CSKA-Sofia. In Bulgaria they claim they are the legitimate club with 30+ titles and european history, but to UEFA they claim they have the license of Litex Lovech. Reality is UEFA does not believe them, so the old court cases for unpaid salaries to staff and players are still ongoing and every year they are usually 1m euro down to payments and lost cases in court. Usually they had to start from 2nd tier, but Bulgarian FA decided to completely change the teams list in PL, they relegated few clubs and started a new format, which included CSKA-Sofia starting from the top tier.

Basically Rangers FC has been given as example by every Levski Sofia fan in Bulgaria, for walking all the way from the bottom to the top without making schemes with other club, and without taking the license of St Johnstone, lets say. Opposed to the CSKA-Sofia playing under the table. The CSKA 1948 is a brand new club which was founded few years ago. Still fair play to them for reaching out.
