Not for me mate but he’s been fantastic for us. I was raised watching Ritchie, McCloy and Kennedy ☹️Then we have Woods, Goram, Klos and Shagger😀🇬🇧

I get that mate. It’s hard to compare. You even look at guys like watterhaus and dibble. Outstanding even though they only played a few games.

we have been blessed wie goalies

I give it to McGregor because how football has changed over the last 20 years. Ffs even the balls have changed. It’s like playing wie a volleyball now.

plus Walter hitting half volleys into him in Tenerife helped.

👍🏻 and Goram by & large had better defenders in front of him 🇬🇧

Wee Alexander never let us down either. Always liked Eric Sorensen but maybe that’s because he’d always wave from his jag when I was going to school and he was heading for training.

I thought Jed o'ward made it obvious on his run up however AMcG once again is the Top man when it comes to crucial saves he dives to the left/right with the agility of a 20 something.

Rangers & Alan Mac Gregor are how you build a team

He's been solid since he came back but he's really upped his game this season the defence have been tight also.

Often read and heard about the famous iron curtain ( shagger probably prefers beef curtain ) not looked at the stats but this season's efforts at the back must be up there with that era.

I was laughed at in here a while back for suggesting he was the best in Britain. Yet here we are.

He's a colossal,beautiful bastard.

It is hard to compare, and it's relative to the era they played.

As mentioned in your other post, things have changed massively over the last while, goalkeeper wise, specialist training, 4 step rule, pass back rule, throw in rule etc., some of the older keepers could handle it today some not, the same as some of the newer Gk's could handle getting battered from pillar to post and others not. Some things have not changed, like the ball getting blootered at you from 12 yds, but coming at you from 20+yds the new ball is all over the place, (or in Christie's case, any amount of yards and the balls all over the place).

It's very hard to compare, and as mentioned, we have been blessed with really good Gk's over the years, it seems to be in the club's DNA for whatever reason, and long may it continue. A lot of it is down to the training, check out the first 5 posts in 'Scottish Football' in the 'General Football Section', somebody states, ' a career ending performance',  it's Jon McLaughlin having a nightmare, comes to us, trains with our staff, and steps up to the plate, if he was at any other club he'd be first choice.

I have seen a lot of our Gk's over the years and for me it's consistency over time that makes a good Gk, yes, they'll throw one in the net once in a while, it's how they recover from that, their strength of mentality and McGregor has got that in spades.

Is he the best we've had?, that's for an individual to decide, as emotion and boyhood memories can cloud judgement, for me, he probably edges it, but I'm not removing Billy from my avatar.

Do wonder how much more McGregor could possibly to be considered better than Goram by the majority? Find them hard to separate myself, but with McGregor never having a dip in form like Goram did in the 10IAR season and such a prolonged run he’s edging it for me now.

It's pretty crazy that, but for admin, we would have had only four first choice keepers since 1986.
