We were extremely instrumental through Murray and Ogilvie in starting this ball rolling back in the early 90s though alongside clubs like AC Milan.

Much of Murray's early reign we were actively investigating things like a Super League. We did things like complain about the three foreigner rule and the fact we had to qualify from Round 1 for the 93/94 league when we had done so well the year before. We actively sought out things like using a seeding system to qualify automatically for the group stages.

Did we ever push for a league with no relegation and handpicked clubs? I'm honestly still furious about it, I'd happily watch all these clubs kicked out of every competition.

That's a really good idea.  If every team, at every level of football, signed on and announced that they would refuse to play them in future.  If you end up with hundreds of teams telling them to get to fuck, it kind of brings into focus who has the better game.  And all of those teams win solidarity with their own fans.

Be even better if it all crumbles and every other team in their domestic leagues just boycotts the games against them. Fans, directors, chairmen etc. Just let them turn up to a soulless stadium like they wished for anyway

I don't believe we did, not that I know of anyway, but we literally put forward the plan to bring in group stages in the European Cup with seeding so that big clubs wouldn't be knocked out and played more games and got more revenue. We hatched the plan alongside Real Madrid and Milan.

When that didn't go to plan with incidents like us being knocked out by Sparta Prague, Barcelona being knocked out by CSKA Moscow early doors and then us again being knocked out by Levski that's when the discussion around the co-efficient system began.

What really killed everything was the Bosman decision on the foreigner rule. That allowed the big clubs to become massive as there were no restrictions on players any more. It basically ensured they became more powerful as a lobby because as they were able to horde better players it made them more attractive for TV rights and so they became protected even more.

We just assumed we would be one of the biggest at the big table forever but we created a system that eventually gobbled us up and spat us out.

Don't think I have watched a game from KO to final whistle which hasn't include us for the best part of 20 years. Dont even watch CL highlights programme anymore unless we are invved in the group stages.

If the stories are true then both Real & Barcelona are in serious financial difficulty, say what you want about the pandemic but Barca & Real have wasted hundreds of millions in poor transfer activity and giving average players with limited ability outrageous wages

I agree Sky, Uefa and EPL hasn't helped Scottish football with it's plans and near never ending investment in these so called super clubs. But the blame isn't all on them for the state of our game. 

Our incompetents took us into TV deals with BBC and Setanta which blew up in our faces, leaving us crawling back to SKY.

When you've got a spineless chief like doncaster negotiating deals as well what chance do you have. 

We earn less in our tv deal than leagues like Denmark, Norway and Sweden.

This list makes a mockery of the Financial Fair Play rules.  As for the Real Madrid president, he's a liar and a hypocrite.   His club had a previous enormous debt which they managed to cut back by doing a Tim-like deal with the city council.  Twenty years ago they sold off land to the council for 480 million Euros and it was only worth a tiny fraction of that sum.   Also in 1998 they got a piece of land from Madrid council valued at approx 500,000 Euros.  They sold it back to the council in 2013 for almost 23 million Euros.  State Aid just like our east end rivals.  Barcelona are in significant bother as they are due to make repayments of debt this summer to the tune of hundreds of millions of Euros.  They haven't got the ability to make such repayments.

I’m pretty sure neither of them actually said it as either club like to portray it on their banners and statues  . But Jock stein did say the statement which both quotes seem have taken their myth from .

Henderson leading a captains meeting tonight for the 14.

Could be looking at a full revolt of the 6 and teams refusing to play against them until they are out.

Think City are definitely looking at their options. Chelsea look like they are still all in. Though Perez said that no team can withdraw now but Perez is a lying piece of shit.

I may have thought that as well until the outcry from the ESL proposal.   I think that any such cosy agreements would be scrutinised now and be called out.  This could actually bring about a sea change for the betterment of football if the right people handle the situation correctly.
