Having loads of fans means fuck all in that regard though. Didn't do anything to stop City being relegated, or Newcastle. European Cup wins didn't stop Forest from spending the last 20 years outside the PL. UEFA Cups for Ipswich too, Yes we're a massive club in terms of our history and support but on the pitch we're fairly average.

Who mentioned just “loads of fans?”

oh and btw, city don’t have loads of fans, city are a small club with money.  Forest certainly don’t have loads of fans either, nor do Ipswich.  The only one you could make a case for is Newcastle, we’re a far far far bigger club than Newcastle.

It's worth a chat between the guys at the top to see if they could come up with a format that would persuade people to go for it. I can't see it happening but I'd like to hear some proposals and take it from there.

The obvious benefits would be greater income/exposure/prestige but that'd be at the expense of winning trophies &competing in Europe. Then there's a whole host of considerations off the field, i.e. for travelling fans, perceived issues with sectarianism etc.

The problem is, we are regressing as a club in the current league format. In the not so distant future we won't be able to compete financially. Look at the leagues who get more TV revenue than us without even mentioning the big 4 leagues.

Turkey

Brazil

Football league (outside prem and championship)

Portugal

Belgium

USA/Canada

Netherlands

Argentina

Greece

Poland

Sweden

Denmark

Norway

I never mentioned Forests fans or Ipswich's but the fact they've won certain trophies.

No but it guarantees more money from sponsors and it guarantees better players.

So we automatically assured of a top 8 finish every season because anyone under that can easily be drawn into a relegation battle with a poor run of form?

But we are massive so we will have pure mullions of money and will buy players who can't get injured or lose form.

Righto.

It’s ok as long as we’re a linfield and winning every season it’s acceptable.

If both us and Celtic are offered it, then we have to accept it.

If one and only one of us went down there, then the Scottish scene for us is dead. As much as we like to think we dont need each other, the hatred of them is vital. Beating them is vital.

We simply could not take the risk of them going and us staying.

In saying that, we wont be offered the chance. As has been said already, the other clubs wont want us as we are a major threat.

It does in Scotland unless the cunts that run the league decide you’ve been naughty mate. 😉

It's all in relative context though isn't it? Big teams by Scottish standards have been relegated while Accies have stayed up for years.

No were not guaranteed it, but your certainly over exaggerating the scenario about is getting relegated in being in a relegation dog fight.  Only way that could ever happen is a Mike Ashley type being involved in us and us not spending the money we would make on players to improve us.  Even then we’re a far bigger club in Newcastle right now playing in Scotland,  imagine the size of us playing in England.

Rather Linfield and have things to celebrate than be Newcastle where trophies are something your granda told you about.

As I said if you think we’ll be a Newcastle you have little faith in how big a club we are.  It really is that simple.

It's really not that simple. If it was, we'd see 'Leicesters' happening every other year. Liverpool wouldn't have won two titles in 30 years, Arsenal wouldn't be a mid-table side and Chelsea wouldn't go through two managers a season.

Arsenal in a European semi final, Chelsea are still in the hunt for CL spots AND European champions league semi final and FA cup final.  So two poor seasons still with a chance of winning massive things better than we could ever hope to win in Scotland.

Being a big team doesn't stop you getting relegated nor does it guarantee success. I mean it took us 2 attempts to win the Scottish Championship and we only managed to win the challenge cup once... despite massively overspending and signing players of a perceived higher calibre. Look how long it took for us to get settled back into the SPL...

We would be going to England with a decent championship level team, so it would take a complete overhaul to get us at a level where we are comfortably competing for the top half let alone top 6... During that time the other established Prem clubs will still be spend massively and attracting top players.(These clubs are putting themselves massively into debt to stay competititve) - Players aren't all of a sudden refusing to sign for Arsenal because Rangers are in the league.

No one can deny that our club has the potential to ruffle feathers, but it's by no means an overnight job or even a safe bet... it would takes years and if mistakes with investment and ownership are made along the way(which happens on the regular down there) - it could really hurt us as a club... and regardless of how big we are we could easily get stuck bouncing in and out of the championship.

Chelsea are in the hunt to finish fourth? Christ I bet their fans can't wait for the celebrations for that one and getting to see the players lift the 'We qualified for the Champions League qualifiers' Trophy next month. A real battle with some of the giants of football in Leicester City and West Ham there. That's really quite an achievement for a club who are sitting 1bn in debt and have had some of the best players in the world over the last decade or two.

Well if one person knows a thing or two about over-exaggerating......

Nobody is disputing our size and there would be opportunity for growth but eventually the arse will collapse out that league and then where does that leave us?

Love how you completely ignored the CL and FA comment.  But you are a “journalist” I suppose and facts are not your strong point.

Don't know about yourself but I quite enjoyed winning 55 this season.

The things you listed above sound pish in comparison.

That’s a few times I’ve seen this “arse will collapse” eventually comment.  Where the fuck is it coming from?  All I see is these teams getting richer and richer year by year.  the tv deal getting better every few years, Infact even Amazon are involved now along with BT and Sky.  The arse is not going to collapse on this at all and it’s nonsense to suggest it is.
