What an amazing professional been a pleasure to watch him wear the shirt. was up at my 89 year old dads house to watch the game and went over and gave him a big kiss in the forehead i was that pleased, icing on the cake. i couldn't think of a better player to see score that goal and put the finishing touch to a great season Essandoh, Amokachi, bluenose48 and 3 others
Essandoh 21,207
I’d turn into a wee boy again if I ever met him or Gerrard. I used to have posters of them both on my bedroom wall from Match magazine, never in a million years could I have I imagined the two of them now Geo17 and Kaydubya11

GersInCanada 7,775
I am happy for Defoe to have another year. He will have another year like this one. Cameo appearances and goals. Can't see the JRG and government giving reserve team football the go ahead next season so he will need to go out and get a proper season. Funnily, most of us at the start of this season agreed he shouldn't have been given another year I'm sure now we're saying much the same
Number5 2,121
I wonder if the Defoe situation has anything to do with a succession plan with Gerrard? He's obviously not worth a contract for purely Footballing terms , but there is no doubt of his experience and what he brings to players/squad around him? Have our management team and board possibly seem something that suggests he could be ideal for management in the next 2 or 3 years. I imagine he's done/doing all his badges etc??
