ElBufalo20 7,875
One is the club captain one is the future of Rangers Football Club. Right back is an awkward position in terms of you’re not going to be making changes after 60 mins etc like a forward player. Tavernier has achieved what he wanted to do for us but still a huge player but also had his ups and downs too.I could also see him playing in a midfield 3 if Gerrard wanted to use both players. Patterson is also at the age and has the ability to be playing week in week out. He shouldn’t be wasted on the bench. If we got a bid of £15m+ for Tavernier it would be hard to turn down given we have Patterson but also Tavernier deserves the shot at Champions League football. What is everyone’s opinions as what should Gerrard do about this next season?
B1872 20,651
No one will pay £15 million for Tav. Gerrard has hinted you might see them in the same team soon so he obviously has something up his sleeve. 👍🏻
The Specky Forum Organiser 64,467
Tav plays a half. Patterson plays a half. Tav plays a third. Patterson plays 2 thirds. They both play 50 minutes and get subbed. They both play 90 minutes. Tav plays a half. Patterson plays a half. Tav plays a third. Patterson plays 2 thirds. They both play 50 minutes and get subbed. They both play 90 minutes.
Ayrshire Blue 2,053
A huge decision for SG and management staff. Is Tav able to play in midfield and bring more to the party than current midfield players? Is anyone looking at Tav? Patterson is definitely the future - could he go on loan for a season? Can our system change to accommodate both? I’ll put my trust in SG to sort this one out. BallochBear, baxters11, terry739 and 1 other

You can give Patterson more opportunities now we know he can be trusted, and rest Tav when needed. It is then up to Patterson to push Tav out the side. If he’s good enough it’ll happen. WilliamMunny 3,218
I can't see them both being in the same side but a bit of rotation maybe to allow Patterson to develop.

Is Patterson good enough for us to change our whole formation ie 352 like Scotland to fit Robertson and Tierney in? We could have a field day with Tav as one of the centre backs who would be going forward at every opportunity Ayrshire Blue

bluenoz 30,687
Patterson is the better player (that doesn't mean Tav isn't a good player). If the boy is given the chance ahead of O'Donnell, he will prove it in the next few weeks and his value will increase throughout Europe. There is no room for both. Definitely a dilemma for Gerrard. scottyscott1963

I really rate Patterson but that's a ridiculous claim to make after the season Tav has just had Bluekev, TamCoopz, J-Maestro and 27 others

Tav was lights out from Aug - Christmas and tailed off a bit (still decent) before and after his injury. They are both very good players. I really think this kid is the real deal. I really hope he gets the opportunity in the next two weeks against Europe's best so we can really judge him. ElBufalo20
285miles 499
If it isn’t broke don’t fix it plenty of time for Patterson to inherit the right back spot by orderly transition but not just yet barrymorrison1, Bluekev and Raligt

We Will Follow Rangers 12,917
Patterson has the potential to become a better player than Tav but right now dropping Tav for him would be a downgrade, that's just reality. J-Maestro 11,025
Patterson can't just come in and play 60 games a season either, not unless you want him falling apart in a few years time. Besides Tavernier was arguably the best player in the league last year, Patterson's time will come and he will be sure to get opportunities this coming season. scottyscott1963
GOAT 30,449
Tav will play most of the games, we should be giving Patterson a chance in some early cup rounds, maybe an odd game here or there in busy schedules and bringing him on for Tav in games were 3 goals up in or comfortable. bluenose48, ice and magic8ball
Drumloyal 14,924
I can see Patterson being our cup RB like Alexander was for GK alongside stepping in for when Tav gets injured or suspensions. BlueAvenger
