It's not really commercialising the club though. Rangers' own club photographer will be there anyway and external outlets won't pay to use those (most already pay for extensive photo library access/hire their own snappers).

Preventing others from doing it I mean.

All it does is stop photographers selling photos to papers/websites. It's not going to lead to outlets buying them direct from Rangers.

That just cuts the exposure we have and reduces income from sponsors who pay to have their logo seen in as many places as possible.

You’d assume the club will have plans to sell match images, or include them in the £25k fee?

Edit: not saying it’s right btw. Just playing devils advocate.

Unless the club plan to sell them as part of access to exisiting libraries, nobody is going to pay for them. Papers already pay something like 100k for access to the likes of Getty.

25k includes a photographer.

10k (no photographer) doesn't include access to Rangers' photos. Rangers actually use external libraries themselves for some pics too although majority are done in-house.

We are playing the biggest club in world football in a weeks time and as it stands there won't be any option for syndicated photos for the foreign press?

Is this really what is happening?

Am I dreaming?

Or foreign press get an exemption which then will enrage/ discourage the domestic press. I am not a fan of this pay for access model despite the Scottish press. Fair enough taking a tougher line etc bit this is not imho the way to go.

Are you going to apply as a foreign press member?

Might get something from Real Madrid's in-house photographer.

For all the talk of 'commercialising the club' Arsenal sell their photos to Getty and make money from them, including around 100 from yesterday. Rangers keep them in-house and don't make a single penny.

We could be in the process of applying to be editorial contributors at Shutterstock/Rex or Getty? Who knows.

Assume we won't be able to do this in European competitions?

Appreciate that you might be more connected that some on here, but surely you don’t know the ins and outs of any commercialisation strategy and what that looks like in the medium to long term? You’re awful quick to say how shite everything is in this area, with (I’m assuming) not knowing the clubs plan.
