Is anyone surprised? Although his raise through the ranks is suspect, nothing can be done until he fails a test.

A lot of sports can't. It seems the cheats are way in front of testing at the moment. At least with cycling they have passports so abnormal levels show.

There's strong arguments for keeping samples for major event winners for 20 years or so to give science a chance to catch up with the cheats. It would also lend validation to truly exceptional performances, which pretty much everyone assumes must be down to drugs these days.

Not so sure that would be fair and accurate.

Take the Froome salbutamol (asthma meds) case. 20 years ago it may not have been able to be 100% confirmed that if you don't have asthma, then taking salbutamol will not give you any performance gain. Resulting in him being kicked off the tour for "cheating"

When in reality if you don't have asthma and use salbutamol it's effectively just a placebo.

I thought they do for the medalists in the Olympics.

I'm sure some athletes have already been caught years after.

My memory could be playing tricks on me though.

I'd be testing Carl Lewis samples, he was definitely on something.

I believe that is correct. 🤔

Yeah it's true, the turnaround is because now he is solely focusing on the 100m.

Could be true, could be bollocks. Its sad that every good sporting achievement is questioned.

Ultimately this.

As a long jumper he was probably doing sprint training 2x a week max.

Now obviously as a sprinter this is now 4 or 5 times a week. Big difference.

Impossible to say whether it's legit but on the balance of probability there's a good chance.

I think only 2 of the 1988 100m final weren’t at it - Smith and da Silva.

Did they? Cheating bastards and the US complained about Russia's doping. They are just pissed off they got away with it for so long.
