How the fuck were we meant to do that. We lost £20million for the season before last with just 1-2 months of Covid affecting finances. We then spent big in summer, sold no-one and then had a whole season without fans, we’ll have done well not to have lost £30million in the past 12 months. We have lost about £50million by reasonable estimates in 24 months, despite qualifying for Europa League twice. We needed to sell 1-2 players, had no bids for anyone, so had to bring in players on frees. We’ll now likely lose Morelos, Kamara and another and even then will likely barely be able to spend. We did the speculating to accumulate last Summer and it paid off, we won the league, but with a massive loss in the accounts already we were never spending big money again this Summer without the guarantee of champions league money, or money coming in from player sales first. It’s using the benefit of hindsight, but at least one of the high profile players should have been sold to allow us to freshen up the squad more than we have. This is the Kaunus 2008-09 debacle all over again, only this time we aren’t going to go and splash a fortune on players in the aftermath to put a plaster on it. Lundstram Sakala Simpson Onofobrh Itten over 2 million Wright - looks ok but looks miles away from this level. Roofe - stop start but defo a player. It boils my piss, we will now lose two or three of our better players. Our main priority should have been to extend the likes of Kamaras deals and buy players to compliment him, now we will likely lose him along with morelos. Raging.
