Phenomenal turnaround from where we were. 13 OF games, 8 wins, a draw and 4 losses. 

And of those loses;

- After the first Europa play off where we were down to 9 men early in the rebuild

- Morelos sent off early and a late blunder from Tav

- Robbed in the cup final, with an offside goal

Only real poor performance was the 2-0 at Ibrox where we left Morleos on the bench and hadn’t signed Kent back. Never looked like beating them. Every other time we’ve been very competitive.

The Jack 1-0 game was the real turning point in terms of beating the mental block with them, but yesterday’s felt just as big IMO. 

I’m quick to give Gerrard and co it in the neck when we’re not good, but the progress is phenomenal.

Won 8 from 13 and 1 of the other 5 is a draw. That's a great record. We knew in his first 2 seasons it was points against other teams that cost us. These games don't make or break seasons but they are excellent for building momentum.

Amazing turnaround. They are getting destroyed mentally and see us as a "pish" team that just outmuscles them and works hard. We are a much more physical team than them, yes, but we have much better players as well. I actually think we are set up this season to conserve energy.. and turn it on when we need to. I think in the latter stages of the EL it showed.. we were spent. Its a long season and they will be running on empty in a couple of months as their style is all out attack then everyone sprint back, then forward etc.. You cannot play like that for a whole season.

I'd say we were at 60% yesterday and they still couldn't beat us, that was them at maximum imo, no way do they keep up the 100 mile an hour stuff right throughout the season, by late October they'll have burned out and we'll be moving over the horizon 👍

Gerrard has installed confidence, a winning mentality, and no small amount of quality in the squad.

We used to fear this fixture, we no longer do.

It's taken time, it was always going to, but we're in a good place and this fixture is part of that.

said yesterday will be interesting to see if the jap guy last the season at top pace  once a few of the tough centre halfs give him a kicking and when the cold wet weather kicks in  we will see if he is still effective

He was already over 20 games into the season in Japan. No chance he lasts the full season

We used to dread these games and now it's the scumbags struggling to even lay a glove on us. 

Yesterday was the kind of game you love. Them mouthing off prior about how good they are and us putting them right back into thier place.

Yeah. It really is amazing given the starting point.

That was the last time we set up to attempt to counter them. Since then, we've went as strong as we could and let them worry about us.

It was annoying as we had an approach that worked. When you attack them and put them under pressure they can't cope.

The first game where we beat them away. Gerrard celebrated wildly into the Sky TV cameras at the end, because he knew then that we had them. Unfortunately the level of consistency required to win the league, would take another year.
