An Update and a Thank You

I wish I could thank you all individually for the support of the last 48 hours. I will endeavour to do so in time but right now there are so many thousands of messages it would be impossible.  As insufficient as this post is, please know we are astonished and humbled at this response. It has been incredible to witness the community and support at large rally round.

As you may have seen, it is now clear that there are dozens of offensive tweets by multiple Daily Record employees. These tweets include racist, homophobic, anti-semitic and sectarian slurs. These have been compiled and sent to the Police. Further, the CEO of Reach PLC has been approached for comment. I will publish the email sent in due course.

I want to be unequivocal - we accept that some of the language used by Heart and Hand podders was unacceptable. They have apologised for this, held their hands up and will take any consequences without issue.

What we do not, can not and will never accept is that an organisation condemns others for faults that run rampant throughout their own organisation. We will continue to fight this hypocrisy. We ask for no more than a consistent, level playing field. 

On a personal note, it has been incredibly touching to hear so many of you share concerns that I look after myself and my health. I know it sounds trite, but - while I'd rather not have been in this situation - they have come after us and it's fight or fall. It's not in my nature to do the latter. They decided to attack us and I'll attack right back.  We may not win this fight, but we will leave a massive mark on those who started it.

Your support is invaluable, as is your action. I will be asking for help moving forward as we continue the robust defence of our site, our support and our club. I make no apologies for saying this: I need you.

As for the Daily Record, I'm reminded of a line from a song I love:

I’m amazed her firm let her play an active role on a site like that. I’ve worked in similar places all my career and the partners would have been all over that. We also routinely screen social media accounts of applicants. She’s been very naive. 

I’m not seeing much support for the journos from fans of other clubs, even them. I think most half-sensible people are thinking of this in terms of the bit in bold, regardless of club allegiance.

At least in the past the media and politicians used to pretend to be impartial, now they don't even bother to pretend that they don't have an agenda against us.

Not sure on what basis? No suggestion of the actual podcast breaking any laws, and I doubt any of the tweets break that threshold. And if they do, it’s the ones by the 2 guys who stepped down. I’m sure there’s plenty of other Patreon users who’ve said or done a lot worse

I'm not saying they'll be successful, but I can see them bombarding Patreon with complaints about allowing people who use sectarian language on their platform. It's happened before with Patreon, GoFundMe and PayPal etc.

The h&h boys that left their jobs didn’t do anything to fuck over other people so why do they deserve that? This lassie has said what she’s said so she can live with it like these boys have had to

The thing is that there is no debate that the DR has more of a problem with bigotry among it’s contributors than H&H does. It’s not up for discussion, the proof is all there. And yet the likes of Spiers and Stewart refuse to acknowledge that, save for a few vague mentions of “whataboutery”. 

Really hope Private Eye pick up on it, it’s right up their street.

They absolutely don’t deserve to have their personal lives affected over years old tweets. I’ve been very clear on that. The whole thing is an agenda driven witch hunt. 

However, consistent with that, I don’t rejoice in someone else getting trouble in similar circumstances. I fear this is going to run and more on our side will get the same treatment.

We can’t have hypocrisy though so if the H&H guys are experiencing this then those on the other side should expect the same and I understand why most are happy about this burd getting binned.

I just think this targeting of bloggers, tweeters etc is a race to the bottom. They are meant to hate us and we are meant to hate them. I preferred it when that was understood and accepted.

It goes far above and beyond them, they are the ones in the spotlight atm. Unfortunately views like your own earlier in your post is exactly why we will be shat upon over the next few weeks. 

Even going back to big dunc being jailed etc they cunts have hung us out to dry and victimised us at literally every opportunity available and now we are in a position where their livelihoods are threatened and our fan base is in a position to strike back some/most of us feel sorry for they cunts. 

 

Ask yourself if it was the other way round would they fuckers be feeling sorry for any of us losing jobs??

The H&H story has caught everyone’s attention. If you mean why has this girl losing her job caught my attention, probably because I’m a lawyer as well in a similar firm (don’t know her, I’m a lot older).
