The two things that come to mind are these:

1. How can any normal family man, (not the Neanderthal fringe but a non-criminal, functioning, contributing member of society with job, mortgage, car loan etc), who presumably loves his wife and kids, continue to follow (and therefore condone) decades of abuse of children who could easily live next door to him or in the next street? That is the one aspect of this I have never understood. They lavish presents on their kids at Christmas and, deep down, they act like regular, loving, caring parents but, not only do they have no difficulty in turning a blind eye to the atrocities, they actually defend that terrible club and shout down those who speak out for the victims. 2. Secondly, what the fuck are the footballing authorities in this country thinking about? In any other sport, in any other country, a club would be suspended pending a FULL investigation. The irony is that the SFA stated that they would wait until the court cases ended. But there are so many, who knows when they will end? The effect of this approach is that the club is effectively shielded because of the huge number of offences, perverts and victims! Utterly insane.

It all points to a shit-scared media, a weak and/or subservient parent body and too many defenders in too many high places protecting their team.

I truly wonder if that club will ever pay, not just for the initial crimes and lives ruined or lost, but also for the cynical, chilling, expertly executed decades of denial and defiance.

If there was a shred of justice, the place would be closed down and bulldozed with a memorial garden in its place.

That’s the thing the club has 2 issues to face .

1 .Any proven in court cover up and or facilitating of abuse .

2. The new regime post 94 had the opportunity to distance themselves and take responsibility,Help bring an end to the pain many are suffering of the many survivors.But no they have done everything in the book to bury this and distance themselves from responsibility .

It would be difficult for the authorities to punish for what the old regime did but they could hammer the new regime to the floor for the way they have behaved in recent years .

Absolutely.

Anyone looking at this objectively can see how lame the “separate entity” nonsense is. I would hope that, in the event, of damages or compensation being awarded, the person deciding on a figure adds a punitive amount to recognise the ongoing lack of real contrition and the persistence of this cruel and cynical denial of the bleeding obvious to try to save their skin.

Unfortunately I think the same. They should be punished because they have continually dragged this out by claiming the separate entity line but Fck all will be done. Not one thought has been given to the survivors.

On the second one - for a cash rich club it's surprising they would rather drag the matter and the victims through court with the adverse publicity than settle out of court.

Unless of course they haven't got the cash.....

They could have agreed a settlement without admission of liability subject to the victim not bringing any further actions and also insert a confidentiality clause.

Matter resolved - victim paid, no future proceedings and reduce bad PR.  A sensible and moral approach.

Just watched Gordon Woods video from this morning on BNT 07 which is on you tube.He said it was a devolved issue but now Westminster are in coved because of the cross border issue between a Scottish club and a person from another club in England.Its worth a watch as this is only a small part of it.
