They are a small club though. Why people, particularly non-Newcastle fans, buy into this myth they aren't is beyond me.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou backed for Newcastle job as part of Saudi takeover revolution

ALAN BRAZIL has backed Ange Postecoglou for the Newcastle job as part of the Saudi takeover. The £300million deal was given the green light - after the Gulf state buckled in its piracy battle with Qatar.

The deal could even be completed as soon as Thursday, with the Premier League's approval as former Rangers shareholder Mike Ashley gets set to finally walk away from St James' Park

Steve Bruce could also be set for a sharp exit once a deal goes through and Celtic-daft pundit Brazil reckons Hoops gaffer Ange 'fits' what the EPL side are looking for.

Speaking on the talkSPORT breakfast show, he said: "If Big Ange comes down. What is it - 100 miles to Newcastle?

"It all fits in. It all fits in, of course it does."

Gerrard would go to Newcastle now no bother

Perhaps it's just one of those opportunities you would always regret not taking because there must be only a handful of clubs in the world who have that sort of budget

BUT

has he really won enough in a pretty poor league to get a job like that? Even his undoubted European success has only been Europa League

What have previous Newcastle managers ever won apart from Benitez?

Never mind Newcastle, the overwhelming majority of managers down south have won next to nothing yet continually land PL jobs no bother.

I remember when City first got took over, they were honking for ages before they pissed enough money away before getting it right.

This will be the same but will go tits up because its Newcastle and they are the definition of a hard luck story.

yup the best thing they could do is get someone like benitez back in to steady the ship give the fans a bit of perspective that theyre not going to get a mega team overnight and start managing big names and maybe a cup run before splashing out on a big name manager and bigger named team

Aye I said in another post he won’t be going because they won’t even offer him it. They’ll have a queue of managers willing to take them on now with that budget

Exactly. The majority of managers in the Premiership have, and never will, win fuck all.

With that money they could just about get any manager in the world ... it will be spectacular because they will set the bench mark right from the start with the first few signings just like we did in Scotland back in 86 with Butcher and Woods
