Popular Post don logan 8,062
I had to endure some dire years when I started following Rangers but they were all worthwhile when Walter took control and gave me the best seasons and the best memories in the last 40 years. A brilliant manager and a class man, who never put a foot wrong. Universally loved and respected. Never shirked a call and always acted in the best interests of Rangers. Completely worthy of a statue or stand in his name. RIP Walter. Way, way too young. Popular Post Inigo 32,526
He was assistant when I started going in 86, then obv manager from 91. He and Souness are basically what I think about when I think about going to see Rangers as a child. This has that feeling of losing a bit of your childhood. Nothing next to his family's loss, but it's still like a big part of you has gone. No exaggeration to say he made growing up more fun for me, as I'm sure he did for many, and I'm so thankful to him for that. DW1872, SteveEarle, TheFamousPigeon and 4 others

So many wonderful memories and highlights we shared as Walter Smith lead our Club. He was the embodiment of what it means to be a Rangers man. Totally nailed it. It was our life growing up watching his Rangers team home and away, out on the bevvy with your mates, meeting my Mrs, travelling to Europe with the many, many highs that he gave us as fans. Then he returned when we needed him and again provided some amazing memories, even getting to a European final. All of this done with no ego, just for the love of his club. Honestly feels like the loss of a family member / close friend, this is how far he reached out to us all. 💙 TEFTONG and Inigo

Popular Post RG1993 32
DUFC fan in peace here, because of the issues between our clubs in last decade, it’s easy to forget there was once a great mutual respect between our clubs. In Walter we’ve both lost a massive figure of our respective clubs, his time at Rangers is rightly what he’ll be remembered by, but Walter also spent a significant portion of his life at Tannadice, he played almost his entire career here, and was Jim McLean’s assistant throughout the greatest period in United’s history, playing a massive part in taking us to our only league title, and the great European runs in the 80’s. It saddens me that both him and Jim, two of the greatest this country ever has, and ever will produce, have left us within less than a year of each other. I know Walter was saddened and disappointed by the feud between our clubs, the two clubs that played the most important part in his life, and it’s a shame he never got to see some sort of resolution before he went. My condolences to RFC, we’ve both lost a huge legend of our clubs’ history, and we share your grief at losing the great man. RIP Walter Smith 🧡🖤 murzo, BridgeIsBlue, don logan and 29 others
