Walter would have been very proud I'm sure. Unbelievable from Ally, he spoke so well. The point around privacy was something I hadn't thought of, but I'm so glad that the MSM and fans alike gave him his dignity. I never once felt like we were 2nd best over the course of a season with Walter in charge. By the sounds of it he was just as much of good man off the park aswell for all the emotion and sadness we feel his family will be feeling it even more. As someone else suggested Edmiston House should be named after him without a doubt. RIP Walter He instilled confidence just with his presence he really was one of those old school managers from whats a bygone era now debs1970, SwallowsHisOwnSpunk and TheFamousPigeon

geneva_ger 9,331
Working in isolation today so patched work and watching all the video tributes here with a few damp tissues by my side. He really did instil to the team, what it meant to have Rangers in your heart. TheFamousPigeon

real boydie9 17,605
Just heard the news. I'm devastated 😔 we all know he was a Rangers legend, the greatest Ranger in my opinion, but first and foremost he was a great man. I'm shocked. God bless you Walter you'll be badly missed. He's what everyone associated with Rangers, be it player, manager or fan should be looking to as an aspiration.

Had a look at their forum, and to be fair, the overwhelming majority are genuinely gutted. Fair play to them. This is not the day for rivalries. It shows the stature of the man that even after the success he had against them, causing them unbelievable misery on the pitch, he was such a character and a titan in Scottish football that he is being mourned by all. Walter was probably the last of his kind, and I think everyone can see that. It is genuinely a sad day for football. He was more than just the head of the team I love, but he also sort of like a stand in parent for me as to be blunt my Dad was not my life as much as he should have been when was I younger. Just a tough day. Feels like a real life family member has died that is the only way to describe the feeling we are all feeling today. Popular Post Malkytfp1 18,594
Couldn't get the wee one sleeping last night so only woke up about an hour ago to this news. Found it unusual to be hit this hard with someone I never knew personally. Then I put it into context and a lot of the happiest memories I have are down to this man. He is and always will be one of my heroes. One of the last students from the old school. A giant among us. A lot of us won't realise yet how lucky we are to have lived through and watched this man lead us. They will talk about him and tell stories of how good he was long after were gone. They will watch that interview and laugh. Just glad I got to be here to see it. Rest easy gaffer. dougie76, Goofy The Scot, BridgeIsBlue and 4 others
