With what is available, how does Gerrard change it?

Simple question??, not so simple answer.

We have been way way short this season so far, nobody will argue that iam sure, we've got away with a few games by the skin of our teeth, mainly Hibs at home, stjohnstone, Dundee, St mirren away.

Any ideas on how he turns this round with what is available?

We need to start games better. This means pressing when we don’t have the ball (in the right way), but also not taking silly risks when we have it.

Teams are going to come at us more early on, because we’ve shown repeatedly we can be got at. Give them nothing for the first 20-25 minutes in terms of chances and they’ll eventually give up. Loose passes in and around our box are creating so many chances for opposition sides

Said all season he doesn't know what to do to change things. It's not tonight we've not created anything, it's been all season and not one thing ha changed about the setup.

That is the scary part mate.

We've been watching this since July.

4 months.

And very little has changed, worse if the truth be told.

I don’t understand where the flare, the one touch passing, the triangles, the off the ball movement where has it all gone? How does the same group of players who where so dominant last season just change so dramatically and become some pish ?

Gerrards issue by sticking with what he already had despite possible warning signs of stagnation and regression from some. Could've sold and refreshed the squad but instead we celebrated not selling Patterson only for him to sit on the bench week after week while the captains form nose dives.

He won't change a thing. Plan A or Plan A better.

Like I’ve just said in another thread that’s easy to say with the benefit of hindsight. Go back to any thread from May, June or July and almost to a man people on here were talking about the importance of trying to keep the squad together.

Get rid of the focusing on attacking fullbacks system that teams have worked on to counter us,

4132, tell the back 4 to stay in line and in shape, allow the 3 attacking mids and 2 strikers to do the forward part, the sitting mid just breaks up play and gets us going again

And this is where we have ended up.

I feel we actually lacked that tonight, they had two central players playing at full back tonight and we barely went near them until Scott Wright came on!

The football we are playing at the moment is dreadful. Too slowed ponderous and IMO overly coached. Everybody is coached and instructed to within an inch of their life and it shows. Nobody feels like they are playing with any freedom. There’s nothing gallus about any of our players.

Keeping the squad together is one thing, but we could still have maybe cashed on on one or two assets to freshen the whole place up,

Plus goldson not agreeing a deal before the season started should have been the end for him

20th game of the season and we’ve played the exact same in 19 of them. Only Brondby did we control for 85 minutes.

Inability to change things is ridiculous when our management team stands at around 10 people. If all those including Beale and Gerrard can’t see it then it’s a serious problem and will be their and our ultimate downfall

We also take far too many touches. I'm actually raging at how Gerrard and his coaching staff can't see it's not working. If they can but don't know how to change it then that's even worse.

It's not as if it's been one game as it's been all season.

Tav sat back most the game. Bassey was stuck deciding to go or stay. Our fullback game that gave us much of our joy last season is completely found out and gone.

3 attacking mids? Who? Hagi, Aribo and another? We had a sitting mid tonight and he sat on his arse between the two centre backs. We had 2 up top that got zero delivery and offered zero movement.

The players are the issue, the squad is the issue, the tactics will never change.
