Neither are wide men. If Hagi plays must be central not wide. We played a diamond a few times last season and it worked well. For me the main difference from last season is not being able to make five substitutions. It's easier to run yourselves into the ground and chase all over the park when you can freshen up half your outfield players. Also you can afford to take a gamble with early changes and mix up your attacking options when you've got an extra couple of subs up your sleeve. In attack we have shown it this season in short spells where we look decent moving the ball at pace and stretching the opposition. We are giving teams to long to set up in defence and a bank of 4 and 5 is always going to be tough to break down. Winning the ball higher up the pitch and harder pressing against teams would also help so when we get the ball back we don't have 2/3 of the pitch to their goal. Quote Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tav is struggling to cross the halfway line - Last year he was popping up in the box/scoring etc. Midfield is sitting to deep and in turn the attackers are isolated - Our pressing out of possession this season is deplorable. We normally pin teams back and nick the ball but this season every team appears to have a man extra all over the park and are picking us off as they move forward. Morelos needs to be right on the last man - Stop dropping deep it’s not working. Whoever sanctioned Ittens loan should be getting asked questions - The only striker we had that offered something different to change a game. Get runners  like Arfield on from the start and not cameo appearances and expecting miracles. Our summer recruitment looks poor at this stage - Sakala looks like a project, Lundstram after a few better performances was rank tonight - Even getting Wright in early last year hasn’t worked as he’s not kicking on, Jack Simpson has been woeful in his few appearances. Give Patterson a run. move Balagun to left back, call back Katic Don’t play Aribo and Kamara together our midfield has absolutely no dig and is toothless Our squad depth is shite, there’s absolutely no chance of Sakala or Wright becoming starters, they are not even very good impact subs ffs. Gerrard has stopped playing our LB and RB high up the pitch with them being used like wingers. There was more than one occasion tonight Tav, Bassey didn’t take to their heels, preferring to check inside or back. This used to be our most dangerous attacking option. He’s stopped that for some reason. If he doesn't want to sign a contract then his hearts not in it and we need players willing to be here through thick and thin. Plus he is playing fucking shite. Time to also drop tav. He is not captain material, not vocal, makes mistakes then blames others and can't defend for shite. Patterson has youth pace and bravery on his side. Until Gerrard drops the pals act and does whats best for the team, we will continue to play with no heart.
