With what is available, how does Gerrard change it?

Simply put we aren't scoring enough goals.

Conceding goals is a bigger issue IMO.

We score most weeks. If you do that and you keep the other team out by not giving away cheap, daft goals, you  win games.

Defences win you championships and ours is shocking at the moment.

It’s an absolute embarrassment to play like that. Not only that, but look at our subs and tactics against Hearts and St Mirren when winning.

I’d love to know if this is Gerrard or Beale.

We were 2-1 down and the first 20 minutes of the second half we had played at least 10 triangles backwards or sideways between Goldson Tav and Lundstrum  or Balogun Bassey and Kamara, every single one ended with the ball getting played to an aberdeen player or a cross field ball to nobody, we weren’t within even 20 yards of their goal

Pace, tempo and intensity with and without the ball.

We need to start pressing teams. There’s no one in this league that could keep the ball with us in their faces without making forced mistakes, got to start pressing as high up as possible to get the ball back in dangerous positions.

In possession we need to be faster moving the ball. We need runners from midfield dragging defenders out of position. Too often we take too many touches, or are slow to pass the ball in any meaningful way letting teams get back in shape and hold the defensive line. We constantly rely on the easiest available pass which is usually about 5 yards sideways or back. This continues until the only option is to play it wide to put in a cross against a packed defence with only a few men in blue to aim for.

Yes our recruitment in the summer was poor, but play the right way there’s easily enough quality in this side to still be beating the dross in this league. Unfortunately we make it too easy for them.

To 'fix' things we need to find a midfield again

Out of our midfielders, the only one who should start on form is Aribo and even then there's an arguement he should be played further forward

If Davis (our best midfielder from last season) wasn't going to get played much we needed someone much better than a limited Lundstrum

Kamara has thrown the toys out the pram after not getting a move, looks half the player he was

Jack isn't coming back, he's missed over 1/4 of the season already with no signs of a return

Arfield and the rest are just pish. We don't have a midfield to link the attack or protect the defence, they got ran over tonight by Brown...fucking Scott Brown

You’ve hit the nail on the head in the way we pass in triangles. Look at the top teams in football and they use passing in triangles to move the ball quickly forwards and pull players out of position.

We on the other hand slow the game down and allow defences to regroup and position with slow backwards and sideways passes.

The only country in the world after 1 full round of fixtures the manager at the top of the pile 2 points clear is under pressure.

Take it in context though. A team that won the league by 25pts last season against a team in full rebuild, with a manager we all laughed at, is only 2 pts ahead after the first round of games. Add in a disastrous CL qualification effort and its clear why he is under pressure.

Kent in the past has had his fair share of criticism but we badly miss him at times, tonight is one of those games I would be expecting Kent to conjour something up for us

You might have expected it but chances are he'd have left you disappointed. He needs to come back raring to go and full of confidence

Simple question??, not so simple answer.

We have been way way short this season so far, nobody will argue that iam sure, we've got away with a few games by the skin of our teeth, mainly Hibs at home, stjohnstone, Dundee, St mirren away.

Any ideas on how he turns this round with what is available?

Pick his strongest 11 on current form, stick with it and (try) to salvage the consistency we are lacking.

I'd drop Goldson had we not sold Edmundson, loaned Katic and / or done better than Simpson.

McLaughlin is our number 2. He is our number 2 until McGregor cannot play and / or leaves.

Drop Hagi or Aribo as they are not playing well in the positions they are currently in.

I will say it again... we play Hagi too wide. He doesn't have the speed to play out there. He is a natural #10

The problem with that is that hardly anybody plays with an out and out number 10 these days. The game has moved in such a way tactically that it’s a bit of a dying position.

It’s time for him to go, the crowds are back and we’ve turned to shit again.

we can’t get rid of the squad so it’s time for someone with fresh ideas. He doesn’t seem willing or able to change it

 yeah let’s get rid of the guy who we won the league with last season and are currently top with… that definitely wouldn’t put any incoming managers off the job.

Not advocating for getting rid of Gerrard, crazy talk, however our season has such similarities to the tarriers last season

They were rotten for the 1st round of fixtures but ground out results then they fell off a cliff because the shite performances caught up with them...sadly I see us going the exact same way in the next 4/5 weeks, Gerrard will be under pressure then.

I was fucking slaughtered when i insisted none of the older players contracts should have been extended but look at them. None of them can get a game consistently not even mcgregor who is a keeper ffs its a joke.

We were told we were going to add quality and not quantity.... Well we added neither. None of our signings have improved the squad never mind the first 11. Its an appalling state of affairs when you look at how far we have regressed in the space of a few months.

We need to sell some players in january as we need a new spine for this team. Id start by getting that veerman boy... Instead we will likely sell Patterson and bring in more duds on free transfers.

Im maybe just annoyed after tonight and it’s too far to say he should go .

but we’ve all said how shite we’ve been this season , it’s like a copy of how we were pre covid. And nothing is changing
