Who would you prefer that's affordable and do you trust the board to get the next appointment correct because if they don't we'll be watching them dominate again unfortunately that's the reality.

Gerrard isn't the correct choice...

Dyche, Knutsen, Rebrov, Hassenhuttl all would be better choices than the rat.

He’s available after failing at Villa after spending a fortune and getting found out in under a year.

He won’t be affordable as he got a significant pay increase and that contract will still be active due to being sacked, he isn’t taking a cut.

He walked away from the known demands of the club before a semi final and a last chance saloon EL group tie.

He knows the players but will also have seen their regression and will want no part of changing it without serious finance, which he isn’t going to get and failed with finance at Villa anyway.

You are right it’s not a popular choice but it’s also not happening as one of his main drivers was to go down south to be with his family.

You need to get over Steven Gerrard as he will not be the next Rangers manager, maybe try following whatever team he becomes the next manager to sate your fascination.

OK so who do you think we will get as our next manager?

You think Gerrard won't?

Reason he left. Wanted to ‘fix the roof while the sun was shining’ & asked for Veerman/Skov Olsen & was given Bacuna/Fashion. Nothing has changed at boardroom level so why on earth are folk even mentioning his name. Honestly man 😂

He wanted Kevin Nisbet, that’s why he threw the toys out of the pram.

The man made John McGinn captain of Aston Villa. No board should give him money

He was promised funds to strengthen after winning the title and the board decided not to back him whilst we had celtic on their knees, meaning he took us as far as he could at the time that's why he left.

We need freshened up as well. A new manager with his own ideas. This team has ran its course & new blood is needed in the summer when we lose about 10 players who are out of contract. If we extend any of the contracts of Mcgregor, Arfield & Davis again then we’d be as well just pulling the shutters down & calling it a day.

I'm not convinced on this line about owing Gio some loyalty.

In an ideal world, yes. At the start of the season I felt he'd earned a whole season to have a crack at it. But Ranieri won Leicester the league and he was out the door within 6 months because the following season was falling well below expectations.

Allowing the club to incur further damage, all because of a sense of loyalty would be stupid.

I'm not saying that its right to keep him but the idea and a sense of loyalty is part of the club's identity. And it should go both ways.

I think the Board will go back to the British type manager which unfortunately will probably give more power to Ross Wilson as we continue down the DOF road, name for that, no idea.

Tbh no one seen Caixinha or Gerrard coming in so who knows what path they will pursue.

He left because he couldn’t wait to get back down to the EPL. He was apparently promised funds if we qualified for the CL but instead he as usual bottled it under pressure and we lost against a 10 man Malmö at Ibrox

He wanted 5 million to get us Kevin Nisbet, fucking fuck me

Gio under pressure.  Those press guys.  He doesn't look under pressure.  With a contract that pays him for years ahead?  Pressure?   Fans are under more pressure as they wake up to this shitstorm every day, and are actually paying out

Board and Gio will try to ride this out and hope to win next games, praying that scum drop points. before break.  If that happens, it will go on and on.

Fucking pathetic anyone is considering Gerrard, the guy left us when things were not looking great (his and Ross Wilson’s doing from the lack of outbound transfers that summer) and snaked off ahead of a huge semi final to sign for Villa.

Apart from the fact he should have delivered a treble in the 55 season when we got put out of the cups to st Mirren and st Johnstone when both were there on a plate.

So he’s neither the manager nor the man to take us forward, get this talk shelved. Thanks for the 55 but you made your bed with Villa and it went exactly as expected…..reap what you sow.

Aye, I absolutely get that. I was of that mind, really until Livi at home - mostly for that reason. He'd earned loyalty for one of the highest highs we'll experience for years.

But it all looks like it's heading one way, prolonging out of loyalty now would do more harm than good IMO.
