£96m vs £2m

We shouldn’t even be at this stage of the tournament and Leipzig should have blown us off the park (the winning goal was scored by a player that cost them £16m which is more than our last 4 windows combined).

I’m not sure what people were expecting tonight other than a backs to the wall job. I think the team and Gio will be disappointed we didn’t quite hold out but we lost 1-0 to Braga so we have previous for overturning a first leg away loss when they come to a rocking Ibrox.

West Ham with all the money they can spend get beaten at home by Frankfurt (9th in bundesliga and Leipzig are 4th) so we should in no way be disheartened by the result tonight.

I agree with what you say. I think we are all feeling frustrated as we held out for so long. 1-0 vs 0-0 changes the dynamics of next weeks game.

Since full time, everything I’ve read and everyone I’ve spoken to has given me a real belief that next Thursday is going to be an atmosphere that’ll go down in history.

Remember there was fannys on here saying they couldn't care about Europe earlier in the season?

The fannys can try and tell the 7000 of us in Leipzig that Europe means nothing.  Game on at Ibrox and realistically 90 minutes away from Seville.

I'd have said that too had I not been at the Fiorentina home leg and everyone just sat quietly shiting themselves the full 90 😂

Want to agree....no doubt the whole squad did us proud last night and have helped massively to put us back firmly on the European stage, where we belong. Massively proud of the effort and application last night. My worry is how we can hold them out once we get to Ibrox and the will of the crowd pushes us ever more forward. Both of their knockout stage wins have come of the back of draws at home and wins away. They showed enough last night to demonstrate that if they are allowed more space (and at Ibrox, they'll get it)....they would be a massive threat.

Our team are fully committed in Europe and that closes the gap a lot. Also because football at the top level is such a cash rich industry it's is a good way to waste money I mean you don't get 10 times the team for 100 million that you do for 10 million in fact nothing like it

Good points.

But then again given 7/8 semi finalists in the CL and EL are from the cash rich top 5 then money does buy quality and often more success than lesser clubs, from lesser leagues.

Another indicator of just how great our run is this season.

They were usually the first to post in Euro match threads to inform us they didn't care. Cared enough to post though.

Lamblasting the biggest competition we are in with the most prize money then jumping on the Euro banwagon when we get to the latter stages.

Glory hunters.

Is this the same people saying they couldn’t give a fuck about Sunday now? 🤣

I think most of them wanted us to concentrate on the league to be fair on them. We should give our all in every competition.  Dismissing European football and the huge financial rewards is bonkers.

If we were to win the Europa League we'd be a top 8 seeded team  next season. Be in with a right good chance of getting to the knock out stages.

Hope we thrash the scum on Sunday. Will be a good warm up for Thursday.

Didn’t think they were anything special, if we just believed in ourselves we have enough to be in Seville.

They didn't impress me. We were unlucky not to get a draw.

I think we'd have scored if Morelos and Roofe weren't injured.

Just hope we don't pick up any more injuries on Sunday.

Fair points made by the OP.

I actually think they think the job is done, which could really play into our hands. That, a full rocking Ibrox, and a strategy that goes for the jugular and surprises them could genuinely imo see us go through.

All the Germans think Leipzig are a plastic club and some even still have the anti osti hangover but was odd my German neighbors are all for us until it was explained to me. Different if it was Bayern or whatever.

Seeing how many empty seats they had at a European Semi Final was embarrassing.

I will always back us at home so the tie is wide open. I think the on-paper values of squads can be misleading. It is clear our squad is worth less on paper, but there is massive transfer inflation of certain players and leagues, with over hyping of players that isn't necessarily reflective of quality. For all the teams we have played in Europe this season with supposedly better squads we have gone toe to toe with them. A good attitude will get you so far but you also need quality and good coaching and we should be confident and proud of our performances going into the home tie.
