Coefficient points system is a lot of shite. That lot have gained everything based on our performances in Europe.

That's a disgrace. Needs changed.

I believe over the 5 year period this is based on they actually have slightly more coefficient points than us although the first year we basically have 0 because of Progres 🙄

Although without us, Scotland would be nowhere near automatic group stage but to maintain it needs both us and them to get results in Europe (and probably Hearts to get some in the conference league).

Good to know that it’s guaranteed Europa groups at a minimum though as it will surely have an impact on the budget the manager gets in the summer

If we need to qualify for the CL all the more reason to bring in some decent signings sooner.  Think if we retain our current squad we have enough to qualify but we need to strengthen.   If we do we will be in the CL group stages and in a really strong position to go for 56.

They will add players and if we don’t bring some quality in it will be a challenge in the league.  Not strengthening is not an option.

We're well ahead of them as it is, and the progres result drops off next season. Plus I wouldn't bank on them to pick up much in the champions league.

No - this year we were in the Champions route, losers of that in QR3 fall into the Europa play-off, but we'd be in the League path this year and the losers of this fall into the groups of the Europa

So if we won QR3, lost play off, we'd just go into Europa in a higher pot seeding for the groups?

Losing in Q3 or Q4 is irrelevant to what pot we would be in, its based on coefficients.

If we make it to the CL through the league path what pot would we be in, we must becat least pot 3 with the results we have had over the past few years

We currently have 49.500 points, that would have been top of pot 4 for the CL this season.

It's possible we could sneak into pot 3 should we qualify via league route.

Irrelevant as we will be in pot 1 as EL winners. :pipe:

As it stands we’re in the Europa League Groups Pot 1, don’t need to win a single tie for it

As things stand just now;

Q2
Dynamo Kyiv
Copenhagen/Midtylland
Fenerbache
Apollon/APOEL

Q3
Us
Benfica
Marseille/Rennes/Monaco
PSV
Club Brugge/Union SG
Sturm Graz
2 winners from Q2

Some dangerous teams in there.

We can't get Benfica.

Some great names for sure, but they will be in the same boat as us.. playing a massive tie pre season.

we normally seem to play teams into their season, which cancels out the difffrence we’d expect in quality.

id for once like to play a team starting their season after us for a change, or at worst, same time,

mot like recently, teams 8-10 games in and are in a groove.

Surely we lose the CL 3rd qualifying round we drop to the EL play off not the EL groups ?

If we lose the CL play off we drop to EL group (with a 5m euro payment to boot)

CL qual rnd 3.......... win = CL play off............... lose = EL play off

No, already explained, we are in the EL Groups as it stands, irrespective of what happens in the CL qualifiers.

Some very obvious teams we'd want to get in there - Union SG due to their European inexperience (and likelihood they're having a Leicester City type one-off wonder season + will lose a few of their better players), Sturm Graz and FCK/Midtjylland

In the CL 'league path' the teams who lose in Q3 and Q4 drop into the EL group stages.

Assume Dynamo would be playing games in Poland?
