Popular Post RangersMedia 35,961
Was posted on here last week his brother passed away - now being reported in the media. Quote RANGERS defender John Souttar's brother, Aaron, has died at the age of 42 after a long battle with illness. The Scotland star described Aaron as "my brother, my hero, my best mate" in an emotional post on Facebook. Aaron suffered from motor neurone disease and the family have revealed that he sadly passed away last month, on Sunday July 17. His sister, Ailsa Shand, said via a Facebook post: "On Sunday 17th July, our beautiful Aaron passed away, after a long illness, aged 42. A beloved partner of Paula, adored and proud dad of Hamish, deeply loved son of Jack and Caroline, step-son of Heather and Mark, loved brother of Ailsa, John, Harry and Mhiran." Aaron's funeral took place on Thursday at Parkgrove Crematoriumin, Friokheim, after which family and friends attended Brechin Golf Club, where Aaron was previously club captain. The family said they would welcome donations to Scotland rugby legend Doddie Weir's charity, the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, in aid of motor neurone disease. When John scored his first goal for Scotland against Denmark last year, he dedicated the goal to brother Aaron. Speaking after the 2-0 win at Hampden, he said: “(That was for) my brother Aaron, he's at home. He couldn't make it tonight but that was for him because he helped me a lot during my rehab, so that was for him." Tributes flooded in as family and friends paid their respects. Sue Atkins said: "Too soon, too young, such a beautiful lad. Sending much love to all the Souttar, Shand and Kelaher families. We will be watching on Thursday, with you in spirit." Jillian McEwan commented: "Such a huge loss. He'll be greatly missed and definitely not forgotten, especially his wisecracks." Grant Sutherland said: "So sorry to hear. Aaron was an absolute gentleman, thoughts are with you all." Stuart Lok Lockhart added: "Sad times. Keep the high balls low up there Big Fella. RIP." And Sarah Helen said: "So terribly sorry to hear of Aaron's passing, he was one of a kind...just heart-breaking." Rangers have been approached for comment. After what happened to Fernando, I'd be astonished if any Rangers fan didn't give Souttar their full support the next time he takes to the field for us - leave form / quality aside. Popular Post Essandoh 21,192
Absolutely terrifying illness. Awful time for him. It should be made clear just how much the support are with him just now. Some things are bigger than football and a loss of this nature really slams that into perspective. Popular Post Colin Traive 22,701
I was one of his harshest critics but it must be impossible to focus with this in your head. So let’s support him and give him a chance to grow into the famous jersey. Fresh start, son, show us what you’re really about. Broxi 11,473
His recent performances were what they were, but I think very few people were suggesting they were indicative of him as a player. Big John will be fine. Hope he's coping off the pitch, that's the most important thing. Just a game. Essandoh and One Jock Wallace

IpswichGer 3,758
It makes what a certain few on here were spewing about Souttar the other day even more disgraceful in my eyes. Putting the club first and taking family time rather than taking to the field to avoid sub par performances, just as an example. Get to fuck... Perhaps he wanted to take his mind off of it, or dedicate a win or a goal to his brother. I know I would happily give up 3 points for that to happen. Gutted for Souttar. Imagine viewing your brother in that light only to lose them so young and to such a horrific disease. Devastating news and I hope his family can recover from this. molesmole 1,041
Just shows his character and how brave he is/was. Losing a sibling hits hard especially so young. I know the lad will grow into the team has all the attributes I am sure the majority will give him their full backing. Drunk and disorderly. 14,322
Losing someone so close to you takes a heavy toll no matter how strong a person you are. I am sure Rangers and his teammates have been there for John and his family in this most testing of times. We can only listen and do our best to console through this tragic period. Some things ar more important than football.
