Credit Where Credit Is Due

I’ve been one of Gio’s biggest critics lately but have to say he deserves credit for today. He got a reaction today and I thought we were really good  for the full 90 minutes. Could’ve been a lot more today. A really positive day all round and puts to bed any talk about the players downing tools. Maybe questions to be asked about why that’s the first we’ve seen that level of intensity this season but it was great just to enjoy the football for a change. Well done Gio and well done to the players. That’s now the benchmark for the rest of the season.

Just back from a week away so missed today's game/result. Really happy with the win obviously, but that we did that after going behind is even more pleasing. 

We can blame the boss for all of our woes, as he picks the team. However, the players at some point need to stand up and be counted. Glad it happened today.....hopefully the start of a good run!

The intensity of our play was the biggest plus for me. Even at 3-1 and 4-1 we didn’t let up. Hopefully this is a turning point for us.

Best performance this season for me, we were in their faces from the word go, never let up for the full 90 mins......... where the hell has this been hiding? Only sour note was yet more injuries at the back

The last two games he's actually picked teams that made sense with the players available.

But too many times this season he's had bewildering selections and tactics.

I agree you do need to wonder why we haven’t played like that from the start but I had doubts that he couldn’t get that out of the players. The biggest worry was that the players weren’t willing to try for the manager. They couldn’t have put more in today. If we’re going to give him stick for the bad performances then we need to give him credit for the good ones.

I feared the worst when they scored. No doubt we will be meltdown level 10 again soon enough.

We're half a team right now. Walter would struggle with the injuries we have. Gio is conservative but he isn't incompetent.

Definitely a fair point, and makes todays performance all the more impressive against the 3rd best team in the league.

We essentially have an entire team out injured at the moment - Yilmaz, Goldson, Helander, Souttar, Ofoborh, Jack, Kamara, Hagi, Lawrence, Roofe - 10 players from our first team out injured simultaneously......... that's fucking crazy.

That's the standard and that's why we all get frustrated this group of players have it in them to produce those levels consistently. For whatever reason it just doesn't happen often enough since 55.

Genuinely can't believe Goodwin saw us struggle to break teams down and came out all guns blazing going man for man at the back, we'll always look good if we get that kinda space, he actually thought he could come down and take the game to us 😄 arsehole.

Aberdeen opened up and we were able to play football. We seem to struggle against the teams that have ten men in the box, our problems never really been against teams that play.

They weirdly started leaving big gaps through the middle a while after they scored and it eventually lead to a Sakala chance and then the Colak goal, not sure why they changed shape because we weren’t too great to begin with imo.

After that we did push on a dominate through out right enough.

I was very happy with our performance and glad to see  GVB get some breathing space but as good as we were it must be said  Goodwin was our star man, he set his team up for a pumping and completely underestimated us,he was naive and arrogant in equal measures.
