BlueVanguard 5,451
Sorry if there is a thread on this already the search bar is not working for me so apologise if this thread needs merged into a post elsewhere. What's everyone's favourite book/audiobook relating to football then? Listened to Sir Alex Fergusons two books not that long ago and a few Rangers related ones and thought i would buy Cass Pennants new book " You're going home in a fucking ambulance " About him and his background of being a Football Hooligan. The Stories so far are bloody amazing and its a great listen while i am playing FM . Any other books or autobiography's or biography's that anyone can recommend? rabc10000
Blueshoff 10,445
Stuart Pearce - really down to earth guy. Vinnie Jones was interesting (was all before his acting so may have been updated). Really changed my opinion of him. On Cass Pennant - one of the senior managers at my previous company used to go to the games with him. Lent him the Cass Pennant dvd and he never gave it back. Without sounding like an ignorant dick, how does this actually work. I don't mean the voice reading the book to you but more the when and how do you listen? I.e do u listen to it in the car or more with headphones in while going to sleep. Honestly can't think of anytime during the day when I would manage some time to listen to a book however at the same time I wouldn't find the time to read a book and I would guess it's basically the same thing The whole idea sounds bizarre to me although I understand why it's a great aid for blind or partially blind people etc.

There are times I need to go back 30 seconds or so to listen to something I may have missed due to concentration on the game. rabc10000

Probably my fave football book outwith Rangers autobiographies BlueVanguard

You could try an audio drama, Rab. Instead of someone just reading the story, the scenes are acted out by a cast. Could make it more engaging for you. rabc10000
The Beast 8,784
A few years ago I read Ian Redford's book which was quite moving especially as he tragically took his own life a relatively short time after it was published. Another I remember as good read was Andy Morrison's autobiography.

Nah, it engages different senses and is a different experience from watching a movie. Your imagination is more engaged, and its a less passive experience. rabc10000

If it's a novel being read, same time as it would take you to read, as its basically someone reading it for you. Dramatisation can vary, usually shorter as they can be abridged versions. rabc10000
