Our TV screen use and the VAR problem.

Would love to see the VAR replays on our big screens, though realise that might be a step too far

I was at the Hampden cup final v Falkirk a few years ago in hospitality and sat in the row behind the press. The press monitors showed the tv images uninterrupted through the whole game with a 5 second delay. This was brilliant idea - so why can't this be done on our big screens? Do they serve any other purpose during the game?

Incident happens (or a goal), look up at the screen and get to see it again in detail. Viewers at home get to see replays and get decision explanations. Punters at the game get hee-haw.

In terms of VAR, It would be a huge benefit if the referee had a mic on for those at the game to hear and understand what the hell is going on and replays be shown on the screens. Watch the Scotland v Wales rugby match where both of these things happen… So much easier to understand what is going on.

We were in those seats for aberdeen cup semi. Ended up watching them at points rather than the game 🤣

It's against the rules.

Remember a replay being shown on the big screen in one of the World Cup games a decade ago and it causing massive controversy. Refs don’t help themselves but their job gets even more difficult if everyone in the stadium can see the incident they’re being asked to make a decision on

Ye think was Mexico V Argentina and once ref made up his mind he couldn't change it - VAR now allows for that but as we've seen, a lot of VAR decisions are downright baffling and would only make matters worse in the crowd.
