And he only needed to turn up for 30 / 35 minutes against Aberdeen, but by God, what a 35 minutes!

Genuinely world class Gazza was, and won that game on his own.

Even McNee, who hated him and would call him number 8, couldn’t hide from the genius that day.

McNee was such a prick, called Gazza number 8 and called Larsson number 7, as much as I hated larsson playing for them he was pretty vanilla in terms of personality, McNee just loved annoying fans, he always wanted to be the talking point.

Glad Gazza got it up him against Aberdeen

Walter Smith extended his life imo

Phenomenal player - potentially second only to Laudrup at the club, ever - but I’m not convinced that ‘the team that drinks together, wins together’ was beneficial to Gazza’s overall health. At the time, I don’t think there was a better club for Gazza, but in hindsight, was that environment the best for his long term health?

Wouldn't have mattered where he played, he would've been drinking unfortunately.

Imagine how good he would have been sober. A flawed genuis. Thats how hes so relatable. He deals with demons probably everyone in their life has either had to face, or knows someone who did. Sometimes loses the battle, sometimes wins. The quintessential Rangers No.8. He said it himself and I think we all agree. We'd do those 2 and a half years over and over again. The day the 8 sealed 8 I think is genuinely up there amongst the single greatest performances we've ever seen.

Someone else said that above, and I don’t disagree, but could we have helped him more with his problems? I don’t know, but when I see what he’s like these days, including at the legends game last year, it makes me wonder.

Football culture in the UK even in those days still had that element about it.

If he grew up today I imagine things would have been different for sure.
