You wouldn't start Dio and Barron in the same team? Without signing more attacking players that leaves our options severely limited.

Preferebly yes. At home against the bottom 6 there's enough options not to be going 4231 with those 2 holding.

Other managers would go mental and play 2 CFs at times. We've got attack minded options in Cerny, McCausland, Bajrami, Lawrence, Jefte, Lovelace, and maybe one day Cortes or Matondo 🙄. That's without even considering Hagi who we're paying 20k pw to play for the B team and other lads in that team like Archie Stevens.

2 holding out of those 4 listed, as holding midfielders, deprives us of increased creativity and attackers. Especially when so little comes now from our right back.

 You and I would go along with 2 CFs but we're auld as fuck and we haven't played 2 up front since Ally was manager.

Of the 6 fit players you mentioned one of them is a left back (Jefte) and one of them is a youngster who is old enough that he should have properly broke through by now (Lovelace).

Of course it's Clements decision not to play him. Unless the board pick the team.

I am assuming Clement has been informed should he select Hagi then his player budget will be reduced accordingly hence his reluctance.

I'm surprised there have been no direct questions to Gilligan or Clement about this issue. The supporters deserve honesty with this. Ten Haag was able to do it at Man Utd with Sancho and was clear to the media his reasoning. Even we were able to do it with Michael Ball years ago. The whole situation is just silly and has created a media and supporter vacuum for speculation, which is unprofessional of the club. It could be cleared up easily while still protecting confidences.

Barron looks like an attacking mid.  Don’t know why folks feel he’s holding

He’s mostly looking to break up play and push it forward when he can

We've actually got a very fluid 3 in the centre which has been noticeable in the last couple of games if anyone has been paying attention. Hopefully by design lol. To demonstrate what I mean watch ho deep Lawrence has been dropping and he's allegedly our number 10. They're all swapping constantly.

Wit? Barron takes the ball off the CHs and barely gets in the final third.

Raskin, Barron, Diomande and Sterling all do the same stuff.

A Rangers midfield shouldn’t have two of them in the team when playing at home to Dundee or Hibs.

Been playing the same way for years with Kamara, Jack and Lundstram etc.

He takes the ball and looks to go on the offensive. Just because he’s not kicking about up top with Dessers doesn’t mean he’s not an attack minded midfielder.

Of course nothing 😂. Wow.

The alternative to this is accepting Clement does not have full autonomy in selecting the team? Obviously I know nothing, hence I said it was my assumption.

What are we hoping to get from Raskin and Barron as our two in the middle. Both lacking in quality, height, pace, stature and any goal threat. A really poor Rangers midfield. Then we bring on Dowell. We need much much better in there

I'm sure Clement does have full autonomy over who he picks but equally Hagi can still be unavailable to him due to his contract. Obviously none of us know the full situation with Hagi.

Jefte is a left back right now but can and has played left wing. We've got Sterling, Kev and Ridvan when he returns who can play LB to free him up.

The reason Lovelace hasn't broken through seems to be injuries and Clement. He was on the bench recently then disappeared again so fuck knows. But he's talented enough to be getting minutes against the bottom 6.

Aye but there's still typically 2 holding CMs, and when Lawrence is coming deep its because theres little happening upfront, because the system isn't working.

Barron goes everywhere in defence and midfield to collect from the defence / keeper, Lawrence does drop deep, Raskin tends to stay more central. But at minimal points would I say 2 out of the 3 play like attacking midfielders for a sustained period of time. And that's the problem as much as the players being instinctive defensive midfielders rather than attacking ones.

The post you originally quoted was talking about midfield and the central 3. Jefte and Lovelace aren't ever going to play there. Options are limited mate.

Actually agree with this but it's more a symptom of how the game is going at any one moment if you know what I mean.

No my post was about having 1 holding midfielder and an extra attack minded player play instead of a 2nd holding /defensive one.

Both certainly can. Jefte likely will at tines when Ridvan returns. Lovelace will likelier leave in the summer without having really had a chance which is poor imo.

If you want to be pedantic the quoted post was about not playing any 2/4 of the named players in midfield against the lower league teams.

And from reading @STEPPS BOY previously I assume this to mean as the holding players in a 4231 which is what i fully agree with.

Not being pedantic at all and I think we're on different pages mate. I'm out.
