harry handsome 629
Woke up again in OZ to more crap and even less answers than yesterday about the whole affair. Thought i would play devils advocate and look at it from some different angles. Having managed a couple of high turnover businesses in the UK and taken over from previous managers my experience is both good and bad with existing staff and the way the business was run. Firstly you look at the turnover/results you find out whats required to better the results and try small changes at first if this doesnt help then try making more radical changes again if this fails look at who you have and are they delivering for you if so keep them if not bin them. Short but sweet and in a nutshell this is what the manager has to do.I also have experience working for the French and have an insight into there management style and there arrogance if it can be called that.PLG, i am a hopeful fan where he is concerned. I thought that this was a great move by Murray in getting one of the most lauded young managers in europe to take over from Mcleish. However he has taken a bad team made some changes and actually went back the way, now if DM had employed him in his core business at MIM this guy would be in serious trouble. He would be having a nice sit down and be asked to explain why he hasnt delivered the goods, he can blame the players ala Ferguson, Boyd etc and ask to get rid of them or he can ask for more time and help to manage the situation in a better way. His key task is to make the business an ongoing success not a quick turnover and shut the door business. He has to look at his key performers and work out the best way to get them to fall into his line of thought or adjust his own thinking and attitude to play the game with them and still get his own way. What is called playing the game and letting them get his way not theres. Absolute failure on most counts i would say, and on this a man near the door in any other business. However not knowing whats going on and giving him the respect he deserves he has the right to manage a difficuilt situation as he sees fit and for the best of the business not himself. I would imagine he has taken advice about this move but dont be surprised if the advice has come from France and not Murray the French always turn to there own when they need help.Sir David, again a fan of the man. Made a great move in getting BF back to Rangers, also made a great move in getting PLG to Ibrox. He must have thought that at last he has something to work with that given time and good management would reap some long term rewards. He now has to back one horse or work wonders and get them working together which knowing the French psyche i doubt will happen. So where does he go, following rules of protocol he must back his manager if he has acted in the correct manner and for the good of the business. If he hasnt and has misled anyone in the company or abused his position he may well have the right to get rid.Again the same goes for Ferguson, if he has abused his position as Captain, an honour in itself being captain of the greatest sporting club in the world, then he must be made accountable for his action again something for Sir David to address.Fergie, love the guy as a player but dont think he has had a good tenure as Captain maybe he has had a poor playing squad to captain maybe hes not the man for the job. Why the distrust and fall out with PLG, does he not rate him as a manager is he unable to work with him and his French ways i know it can be hard i worked for the French. Or is the lack of respect which PLG shows to anyone who crosses him to much for BF. For his part he was Captain of my club and should have acted in a mature and more managed way, followed protocol and spoke to DM or has he with no joy. We dont want to lose him in any capacity but he needs to grow up and realise that there is more than one way to skin a cat.THE FANS, we have for years put our money in and trusted that Sir David would deliver us from evil. At the moment we are in a dark place that gives us no confidence of a bright future and leaves us embarassed and ridiculed by others. We do not deserve this and if the club want our undying loyalty to continue they must get something sorted out fast, get rid of the manager or the player and lets move on. Show the people, because we are the people, that we are being led by a strong leader who will take action irrespective of the fiscal cost for the better of our great institution. My opinion, PLG wants out and doesnt have the stomach to leave a failure. If he is fired he can hold his head up and say that the ignorant scots dont know anything about the great game. Fergie should sit tight and return as the Captain and Murray should appoint a Rangers man at the helm, Davies and Durrant.Anyway its supposed to hit the 40s here today so i will pop a crownie sit by the pool in the back garden and hope for the best. Have a nice new year one and all.
Canadaready 9,437
Great write up. A few comments.Under PLG we have been disasterous...if Barry was out against PLG it did not show on the pitch. If anything, if he was going against PLG's wishes, he was proper as he was the best player out there.

Have a nice new year one and all.You don't know what he's done or said yet you're telling him to act more mature and grow up etc. It is possible that he simply said what he felt and what we all feel. Le Guen isn't doing much good as our manager at the moment. From transfers to tactics to formations to team selections to underestimating the league he's been pretty poor. A lesser man may be able to sit and watch this happen but our Captain isn't and our club is a mess right now. I don't know how anyone can blame Barry for this. We're competing for second place right now and struggling to do so I might add. If he has spoken out then I can't completely understand his frustrations.P.S. Enjoy the sun, I'm going out to cut down a tree that fell down in my garden due to the high winds at the new year then it's off to bed. Jealous? probably.. harry handsome 629
IB, for the good of Rangers all washing of dirty linen should stay behind closed doors and be dealt with the correct way. I want BF back playing for Rangers but more than anything i want our great club to act in a DIGNIFIED manner that will only happen when Sir David sorts this mess out. Good point mate, I agree with this completely. I also wish PLG would do the same when announcing his prefered choice keeper and more recently the more talented of his most recent Captains when comparing Barry and Gavin. What a kick in the teeth that must have been for Rae: "your the new captain but your not as good as the old one"If only PLG could read your last post. harry handsome 629
Thanks IB maybe i should have a oui word in PLGs shell like ear. We do not want to lose our dignity because at the moment its all we have, let the other half of Glasgow carry on undignified they have done it for over a century and its there banner not ours. He was a respected manager before Rangers so walking out would be a huge blow for his career and a black mark on his CV. I think that Murray should tell him that he will not sell Ferguson and that he will be part of the team (ala Romanov) and if he doesn't like it he knows where the door is. That way, PLG will most likely just walk and save us the money of paying off his contract.
harry handsome 629
Ever thought that this could be engineered to suit, i didnt want to say it incase it was laughed at. Move him on and save the money would be ideal and by the way i still think PLG is the man but he needs to adjust his man management style.

harry handsome 629
JADAMS, thats the point we have very little info and its driving us up the wall. All we are doing is covering the same ground time and time again. Sir D has to come out and tell it as it is if he doesnt then it shows his blatant disregard and respect for Rangers fans. He is the only one of the three who is not emotionally involved in this fiasco and can hopefully bring it to a satisfactory end.
