The thing that bugs me most about this is Uefa seem to have a different set of rules based on the size of club involved.

If Real Madrid did the same thing against a team from Liechtenstein does anyone think they would award a 3-0 result against Madrid?

yes they would, the rule book is in black and white, there is no wriggle room for the crime that was committed, if Real done the same against an absolute diddy, the diddy could take UEFA to the cleaners through the courts as its a clear breach of their own rulebook

It wouldnt surprise me if UEFA actually tried to find a way to keep Legia in the tournament given the scoreline and minutes played, but they couldnt because the punishment is set in stone, and theres heehaw that can be done about it

Uefa were acting in clear contradiction to EU/EEC employment laws for years over Bosman and the 3 foreigner rules so they can turn a blind eye to the rules when it suits them even when the rules are in black and white.

seriously, they got their arses handed to them in court by Bosman, that was the last time UEFA tried to fuck about with the rules

And in this case they done everything bang on the money, it might not be correct when it comes to sporting integrity given the aggregate scoreline, but rules are rules and the tarriers lucked in with this one.

Had UEFA kept Legia in the CL< the beggars would rightly have taken them to court, they would have won and UEFA would have looked fucking stupid at not following their own punishment chart.

Is that what fitbaw is all about now?

Fucking Litigation.

The whole of football is a pure joke now with a right bunch of jokers running it.

The The ECA organisation split from UEFA the better.

septic lost 6-1 on aggregate and the "ineligible" player played what? 3 minutes? It's disproportionate and fair enough if U*FA filed the same rules for every club, but there have been identical circumstances in the past which have gone un-punished. It's an absolute joke.

Punishments have to fit the crime and a fine would have been a lot fairer.

This has been won entirely on a clerical error that made no difference or any possible advantage was gained from.

The boy was suspended for 3 games. The boy missed the 3 games he was supposed to..... just a tick wasn't put next to his name and faxed/emailed off when it should of been and 2 of those games didn't count.

Given it is just an admin error, the punishment seems very harsh but... those are the rules and clubs employ people to ensure it is done correctly. Quite simply.... it wasn't...

Like it or lump it, that's the rules and they've lucked out big time.

To be handed a 3-0 victory, under ant circumstances, should be the result of direct cheating... an admin error should not constitute a match result.

Been tons of cases of Uefa contradiction on it's own rule book.

- Sanctioning cross-border women's football while denying men's teams the same right.

- Letting Debrecen off with a fine then kicking other teams out for the same offence over the years.

- The Uefa draw in which Spain and Gibraltar drew each other in qualifying only for Gibraltar to be moved to another group after the draw took place.

- No fine against Barcelona for political banners and songs being played over the PA in favour of Catalan independence yet they fine Robbie Fowler for wearing a T-shirt supporting Liverpool dockers.

- Spain fined 40,000 euros for racist chanting- diddly team Pro Patria forced to play behind closed doors for the same offence a few weeks later.

Uefa are nothing more than a cartel of big clubs who make up the rules to suit themselves.

At first I thought cunts, bastards dirty giat lucky paedo pricks but then I thought we'd be claiming it too and quite rightly so as the rules were broken wether the cunt was on the pitch for 3 mins or 90 mins he shouldn't have been on the pitch at all,on the plus side we get to watch Maribor pump them now :7325:

By the way... This is to us and our guests.

Look at how we once again pathetically argue over a chocolate teapot.

Orwell had it correct. You are being dumbed down and made to argue amongst yourselves about the silliest little details.

The West of Scotland: The region in Scotland that contains most of (and could give freedom to) the working classes... But instead decides to hate their neighbour because of football, and chooses it's politics accordingly.

Don't you want something more from life than constant bitterness...?

Well, don't you?

any chance you could cut and paste the page relating to the 3-0 turnaround for an admin error?

It's just as well I only suffer from occasional bitterness.

They fielded a player they weren't allowed to in the final minutes of the game while winning 6-1 on aggregate!

I want them fucking kicked out of football for that level of stupidly, never mind the champions league

Are you on the right team's forum??

For the record (maybe it's been posted already), the rules effectively state that Legia MUST forfeit the game, whereas Debrecen may have to forfeit the game.

So, for all it seems unfair to me that the two instances should be treated as differently, as to me they are both (regardless of the reason) effectively playing a player they shouldn't, UEFA rules have been applied correctly. It's idiocy and the rule needs changing. I feel very sorry for Legia.

Article 14bis Forfeit

1 A match is declared forfeit if a player who has been suspended following a

disciplinary decision participates in the match.

2 A match is also declared forfeit in application of Article 19(1) of these

regulations.

3 A match may be declared forfeit if a player who is ineligible under the regulations

of the competition concerned participates in the match, as long as the opposing

club files a protest.

Article 14ter Consequences of forfeits

The consequences of a match being declared forfeit are as follows:

a) Any team sanctioned with a forfeit shall be deemed to have lost the match 3-

0 (5-0 in futsal competitions), unless the actual result is less favourable to the

member association or club at fault, in which case it will stand.

b) Forfeits may be combined with other disciplinary measures provided for in

Articles 14 and 15.

c) If necessary, the UEFA administration adapts the member association’s or

club’s ranking in the relevant competition accordingly.

Thinking about it though, perhaps UEFA could have argued for Legia having abided by the rule, but that an admin mistake had occurred, a technicality, but that the essence of the rule had been abided by. UEFA could then have argued that the player had, in fact, been eligible but that Legia were admonished or fined for the admin error.

Perhaps this will be the basis of the appeal by Legia, if they appeal.
