"Rangers boss Walter Smith says he would consider letting some players leave on loan during this month's transfer window.

A number of fringe players have been linked with temporary moves away from Ibrox with the likes of Alan Gow and Kirk Broadfoot struggling to establish themselves since their summer arrivals.

Smith insists he will not let any senior stars leave, but is open to the idea of players moving on to gain valuable first team experience.

Circumstances

"As long as the whole set of circumstances are correct, it is not something we would say no to," Smith told the club's official website.

"I don't think we would be looking to let boys in our first-team squad go at the present moment.

"We still have Uefa Cup, League Cup and Scottish Cup games to play as well as our league matches.

"We will need the bulk of our squad this season so we won't be letting any of the senior players go on loan.

"But if someone was to come along and ask for one of our younger players, we wouldn't close the door on that entirely."

good idea for likes of gow and even the likes of lennon and a couple of the youngsters?

the only serious route for the youngsters to progress. they serve their time in the youths, have a season in the reserves and if they can handle that level it has to be a loan spell coz, despite what many of us say, if they so much as play a bad pass loads of us will be on their backs straight away. far better that they can develop at, say, 1st division level without the moan squad having a go at them.

It worked for adam and mcgregor, we do have a tendency to destroy young players confidence when they put a foot wrong...

it's testament to huttons attitude and self belief that he is the player he is today , considering the amount of pelters we used to give him!

Reading the Rangers site and the BBC on top of Walter's comments I don't think that Gow or Broadfoot will be going anywhere, just because they can't get a game at the moment doesn't mean that they aren't part of the first team squad.

It will be a couple of the other players like Lennon or Furman who might go out on loan, if Walter feels it will benefit them.

we could do with sending ppl like emslie and lowing out for loan, im surprised that lowing hasnt been on our bench as of late given we have no RB replacement on the bench

Has Lowing been playing well?
