BargeddieBear 0
Do You Think Walter Will Stay On Or Go Upstairs?? And If "They" Somehow Manage To Win It Then Will He Leave And Let Ally Take Over?
Craigy 0
I think he will stay on for the next 2 Seasons Why do you put a capital letter at the start of each word?
OlegKuznetsov 10,816
What do you mean "if"? Walter won't step upstairs this season when we win the title, or next. McCoist lacks the experience.
Frankie 505
I doubt Smith will leave the manager's position so soon. If he's successful over the short to medium term, I would expect him to be retained in some sort of DoF role to assist any future manager.
*Manticore* 1,893
I reckon if Minty is planning to sell up in the next few years, Wattie will be there till he goes, and probably a season further.
lancedeangers1 287
I think he will stay on whatever happens. It also seems inevitable that M'coist and Durrant will be the next Management team along with M'dowell. Walter seems to have a lot of time for Durrant and you see them sitting together at Ibrox a lot, it appears that this is Walter grooming him for his next role. I think we are in safe hands no matter what happens.
Muff 245
He'll still be there next season. Super does not have the experience to take over. I'd also question his managerial knowledge at this moment in time.
Canadaready 9,437
Do You Think Walter Will Stay On Or Go Upstairs?? And If "They" Somehow Manage To Win It Then Will He Leave And Let Ally Take Over? I believe he will stay at least a couple more years. You can't jump out of the picture too fast I don't think, especially after success.
Briton 394
What do you mean "if"? Walter won't step upstairs this season when we win the title, or next. McCoist lacks the experience. It is if and whatever happens I'd be surprised if he's not our manager next season. I do hope he doesn't ever 'go upstairs'. I don't like those situations. Poetry_In_Blue 1,043
He'll be in charge for a good couple of seasons at least, then when either Coisty or Durrant is ready they'll take over the helm. Unless of course SDM does sell his stake in the club and the new owner doesn't want any of those managing the club! :pipehorse:
*Manticore* 1,893
If the plan is for Ally and or Durrant to be next they should be managing Clubs elsewhere just now imo.

I understand your point, and yes it would be what you would normally expect, but if your learning from someone like Walter Smith and you are there day in day out like Coisty and Durrant are why would you need to manage another club? E.g. if you're working for a company and the person above you leaves wouldn't you be in line for a promotion if you met the required standard? Might not be the best example but it's all I can think of at the moment.

Gaffbear 4,174
If we're successful this season and become more successful next season while bringing in quality then Smith could do a Sir Alex and stay indefinately.
