So it looks like being,

___________________McGregor________________

Broadfoot________Cuellar____Weir________Papac

____________________Hemdani________________

Novo_________Ferguson____Davis__________Adam

______________________Boyd__________________

No service from the left and Boyd up on his own. Broadfoot, Cuellar, Weir and Adam have a tendancy to just punt the ball up the park, along with McGregor. Can see this being a very long night.

I'd like to see even tho it wont happen....

--------------------McGregor----------------

Broadfoot----Cuellar-----Weir-------Papac

=======Ferguson---Hemdani-----------

Burke-----------Novo-------------McCulloch

----------------------Boyd--------------------

burke novo and mculloch should be interchanging in this line up, cant see it happening, even tho novo was our biggest threat when we played em at home

Edited for the fun of it! (and rather than typing my own team up)

But I would love to see that. Then again, Adam might do a stuttgart and score! haha, I think, in all honesty, that Boyd will be good tonight, prob moreso with Adam starting over Lee... just a feeling.

Another question, assuming Boyd scores and or has an assist or 2 which results in us going through/winning... for those who appear to detest him, will that be something of an annoyance or will there begin to be a bit more credit given to him? He contributed a lot more in the last game, only for JCD to miss a few, shame they werent the other way round ;)

I can predict exactly what will be said by certain members of the forum this time tomorrow....

a) If Boyd gets on the scoresheet and has a decent game and we go through, we will get the usual comments of "its only one game he cant do it consistantly", "it was a poor Panathaniakos side, if it was Lyon or Barca he would have struggled" etc etc

b) If Boyd is isolated (if he is played as a lone striker) and has a poor game and we go out, he will get slated more than any player in the team. We will see comments such "He aint good enough for Europe", "He is lazy and fat", "Cosuin should have played ahead of him" and "he can only score against weaker SPL teams"...

IMO Boyd is in a lose, lose situation tonight as many of the "boo boys" in the forum have made up their minds about him regardless of tonights game. For Boyd to be given a fair chance (or any player for that matter) he has to be given a run of games in the competition (not just one) before we can answer the main question, which is ...

"Is Boyd good enough for Europe" ?

Not the team I would have picked, I like to see pace down both flanks in this system........BUT

We have beaten Celtic 3-0, Stuttgart 2-1, Lyon 3-0, drawn with Barcelona........playing 4-5-1 with either McCulloch or Adam playing wide.

So there is no need in my mind to jump all over Walter's team selection. If that's the team Walter goes for, I'll respect his decision. No manager is ever going to make every selection you'd like to see......there has to be some sort of compromise.

And anyway, personally I'm not too bothered about the UEFA Cup. Was the same for many others on here in the weeks leading up to the first leg it seemed......that quickly changed after the tie though  Sounds like the pitch could be quite dodgy, so my main concern is that we get no injuries.

I'd like to see us going 4-4-2 tonight, I feel they will be more attacking which in theory should free up a bit of space for us in the middle of the park, if we can keep them hesitant about flooding their FBs forward by us having 2 up front them we should be able to do the business tonight.

Usual back 5 then...

..............Hemdani................

Burke.....Ferguson....Naismith

...........................................

............Boyd..Novo..............

Novo has a high workrate so if we are under the cosh for spells then he will drop back to help out in MF

I think Walter will go

usual back 5

Novo...Barry..Hemdani..Davis...Adam

..................McCulloch......................

No pace, no creativity, no imagination, likely to play the long high ball up for McCulloch to knock it down for no-one due to mentioned lack of pace and imagination!!

Boy I hope I'm sooooo wrong

This team we are playing is not considered an "elite " team such as who we were playing in the CL..therefore, I really think we should go Offensive tonight and go there with the attitude we are bettter and have more weapons to score with.....but sadly we won;t and it will be 0-0 with WS hoping we snatch a late winner...seen it all before
