5starblues 0
Why was there no bidding war. To be sold for £7.8 million is pish. Anything less than £10 million is loose change to even the smallest Premiership club. If cuellar wanted to go we should have officially announced he was available for transfer, then wait for the bids. Surely the clause in his contract is for a minimum amount. We've all heard rumours about other clubs sniffing about weeks ago. Where were they today? To take the first offer that met the contract clause is incompetent. ekbear93 3
exactly, surely there was other clubs willing to pay more than that shity offer!
5starblues 0
The men at the top have no backbone. They take the money and run. You wouldn't even sell your car for the first offer you get, so why do this with your prize asset.
J_RFC87 761
No the clause was if anyone bid 10mil Euros then we would accept it. Liverpool and Tottenham bid the same apparently, but he preferred too go to AV
Danny 9
Because as soon as the clause was invoked, they had to let him go if he wanted go immediately. The club's a joke, and the clause should never have been installed imo, but their hands were tied when it was executed. Which, oddly enough, I fancy doing to Cuellar. 5starblues 0
Has anyone seen the contract. Does the clause say that we will accept the first offer to met that value or that is the minumum value we will accept for the player. If it applies to the first question ,then bain should come out and apologize for being a prick.

If he has a minimum fee release clause in his contract for 10million Euros and someone offers us that money, we have no option but to accept and the proceedings are now effectively in the hands of the player. If he chooses to leave, we can't stop him.
Jamesie 0
have we really steeped as low as this !!!!!!
hoffdrankmybeer 41
im asuming the clause would be that any bid of £7.8m would have to be accepted. It then would be up to the player to choose if he wanted to go. you are not going to get anymore for the player. why would a club bid more than the clause? all they need to do is make a bif of that amount and then the player decides from there. even if we accepted a bid higher than the release clause he doesnt need to go to them. if he prefers a club that has made a bid lower than that then he can choose them, as long as they have met the release clause. we cant say "well you cant go to them you have to go to the highest bidder or we wont sell you" cause as long as they have met the valuation of the release clause then thats all that matters. most contracts in spain have these clauses in them. it was obviously something the player (or agent) wanted in the contract. seems to make all the claims that he wanted to stay long term here a bit of a lie. but then again, why do we expect any loyality from players from abroad. its not as we found the guy playing in a lower league and gave him his big chance. lets face facts, he would have ended up at a bigger spanish team if he stayed there or prob in the premiership eventually. i dont blame the guy for wanting to play in england. not sure about villa to be fair but lets face facts we arent exactally the most exciting team at the moment. we are going through a long transistion period, we are playing god awful football, no europe this season and we seem to be just plodding along with no signs of improvement. doesnt make a really desirable club to be at right now. all in all a sad day to be a rangers fan. all we can hope is that we can bring in some quality players before the close of the transfer window. sooner rather than later as we have three hard games to come.
