boss 1,941
Glasgow City Council will on Friday agree in principle to sell to Rangers the land the council owns within the planned redevelopment area. Furthermore the Director of Development and Regeneration Services will be authorised to enter into an agreement to give Rangers the option to buy the land. Here are the minutes, albeit draft until the meeting actually happens, of the Glasgow City Council Executive Committee meeting due to be held on Friday 10 October 2008 at 11 am. http://www.glasgowcitycouncil.co.uk/commit...77+3f4+440+4b1+ The minutes give some hint to the scale of the proposed redevelopment: "far more ambitious" than the casino plans that already have planning permission. In a coup for Rangers Media, attached to the minutes is a map of the area showing the land owned by Rangers, GCC, GHA and Others. I'm not saying anything is going to come of this, particularly in the present economic climate, but this gives perhaps the clearest indication for some time that Rangers are continuing to progress the redevelopment. excoriate 0
Buying the land at full market value ???? Cannae see it to be honest. Just from looking at an overhead map it looks contaminated to the west and north by various nasties. So really, the land is worthless unless its cleaned up? As usual, its a speculate to accumulate by Murray, good luck to him but its about 7 years too late.

NOLUWDC 1
thought this bit was interesting During these discussions RFC have increased their overall aspirations for the site and, earlier in 2008, announced that they were assessing the commercial viability of a number of development options which included the improvement/redevelopment of the stadium itself, the erection of additional conference/exhibition facilities, the construction of new hotel accommodation, the construction of new public realm and civic spaces, and the construction of additional residential development. These proposals are far more ambitious in scale, and cost, than the plans which currently have planning consent, and have the overall objective of creating a mixed use, ‘state of the art’ sports, convention and entertainment development destination, whilst assisting the regeneration of the local area.
