D'Artagnan 13,319
Ity may makes economic sense with the likes of Gow....to hold out for the summer to secure him on a Bosman for free....But would it not be to our advantage to pay that little bit extra and get him and others we are sniffing about at in until the end of the season ?That way at least we would have the nucleus of a settled team who are familiar with each other and can hit the ground running next season when we kick off trather than trying to gel a whole load of new players.Thoughts ......... Boab 73
I agree about this in that we use some of the money that might be for the summer now, to bed the team in
Ibroxblue 122
If we don't get the likes of Brown/Hartley/McCulloch in now we might splash out a bit more for Gow.He can sign a pre-contract with us now to come in the summer.
Ayebrox 0
My preference would certainly be to get as many players as possible in now, to give them time to settle. Especially younger players like Gow.If it's a case of 100k or so to match Falkirks valuation, it's got to be worth paying that bit extra to get him in now, no question. Albahighlander 0
Talking to someone from Falkirk about this and the support and many of those within Falkirk seem very comfortable about losing Gow for nothing in the summerThey would rather get a top six place which have a go at the cup which will bring them in more revenue than Rangers are likely to offer. My guess is that if he comes to us now, it will not be until after the semi final this week which could be the deciding factor. It does obviously make sense for us to sign someone just now if it is someone we are interested in, but we just ain't got the money it seems. Absolutely. Get them in now.If we can begin rebuilding just now, it will mean we can really start well next season. It has often been the issue that our team doesn't "gel" until September/October. However, even if we do get a few just now, I still fear there will be a major overhaul in the summer. Rebuilding is a messy business.
D'Artagnan 13,319
Rebuilding is a messy biz KDI.If we look at the contracts we have to assume there will be a change to our CH partnership.Prso has declared his intention to retire at the end of the season...whilst Novo's contract expires in the summer. So that is changes to 2 positions which many suggest form the backbone of any team. He should be brought in now, to do a job, offer us more options and help us secure second place.Walter should be targeting a striker to play upfront with Boydie in the Summer, which will make Gow no more that a squad player. We cant wait till the summer for him, he is available and cheap, we need him now. nvager 498
If he helps win 2nd place and a CL cheque then thats SMART business.Alba H, We must have money from the sale of Ricksen, Clemente, J Rod's wages, unspent PLG money, SDM money available, etc.Time will tell. docspiderman 1,178
I doubt that Gow would make any real difference to the team so I don't think we should get into a panic over him.
Shuggy07 5
None of them are any good, wait till the summer and there will be a lot more players on the move at reasonable prices. Its always the way ! Dont Panic buy ! We will secure 2nd with the squad we already have. Smith , Coisty and McDowell have only been working with this squad for 2 and a bit weeks and we have picked up 7 points. The targets we are looking at are Gash and are not Rangers quality. Must be patient.
